Sam, I think the smiley problem you're having is related to the mobile app usage from your iphone. I got & replied to your email about the same time as you were posting here, and I too swung by iboats from my android.

The only way to describe the problem I was having is the web browser was jumpy while I was on iboats. No other sites had or caused any problems. It seemed to be constantly refreshing & flickering for lack of a better term. It happened before, but never before the upgrade.

Got your message, and I'll check for a darker blue :cool:

What internet browser are you using on the PC & laptop? IE, the one that came w/ the computer?

~~~~HI everyone,
Mom and I feel so blessed to have so many people taking an interest in this project. Dad, too, would feel so honored. Sam reminds us so much of dad, in the way he gets down to work and is so meticulous and dedicated to doing a good job. Our neighbor (a boating guy) came over and was so impressed with the boat, he said we couldn't have found a professional who would have been able to do a better job.
To friderday, and GT1000000, and anyone else that we haven't spoken to yet, THANK YOU SO MUCH. We really appreciate your help and offers of assistance. Also, we'd love to meet up and/or go boating with any of you.
More pics soon!
I don't know yet where you are generally located (don't want to be too specific here), but I think if you are near Sam, you're near enough for an upcoming splash party of some sorts. I'm sure these old boys would be up to it if us girls promise to put on the feedbag! Oh, and speaking of these old fellers....I love all this talk about smiley faces & mobile apps & browsers....I haven't a clue???? I still have what I call a "stupid" phone (not a smart phone) and heck if I know about these smiley faces & things moving around in the text...????....(so not with it)....I'll let just the couple of ya in on a little secret....shhh.....when I want to tell someone I love them, instead of that heart thing....I just type, "I heart you!" (so very not with it)....I am retreating to my shame room with my stupid phone...in case anybody wants to call & tell me how much they "heart" me!!!! (KC4ZQZ-Gus & Sam have my contact info if you need anything)
You don't log on often enough or stay nearly long enough when you do, so the software activated the new 'Mess with the non-computer types' randomized smiley subroutine............... :rolleyes: :watermelon: :confused:
It was just odd that when you quoted me, a smiley moved from where I put it. And among the multitude of hiccups, most of us have generally the same ones. Randomized smiley's isn't one I've heard anyone else having........
Does the forum 'blink' like it's auto-updating and make any other changes when you're posting from any of your devices? Mine does, but only when I surf Iboats from my Android phone...
:laugh: Sam,
No worries about the hijack. We are happy to see activity on dad's thread, and you all are very entertaining. That smiley face was meant to go HERE so apparently I'm having some issues too.
Friderday, we are about an hour south of Jacksonville, as Sam indicated. Mom and I are totally on board with some water outing; especially once we can take the boat (and make use of everyone's boating knowledge - as we have none). We already heart you, by the way.
Mom has been working on getting the trailer ready for the big flip. WE ARE SO EXCITED about the flip. I try to help some but work gets in the way :(
Anyway, we replaced the bunk carpet and put them back on. Mom went today and got new tires; our neighbor switched out the tires (since an air wrench or some such thing was needed for the lugnuts). He also helped us replace the big roller on the back. We still need to replace the smaller rollers that go up the middle (I'm sorry I don't know the technical term) but mom has already removed the pal nuts from the old ones so we don't think it will be too hard after this. We'll need to ask for expertize on getting them to the right height (when the time comes).
Oh, Sam, mom tried some ferring (SP???) today on the random boat pieces that will go inside (after being painted white) but she found the "premium marine filler" to be not nearly as easy to work with as you made it look. conversely, she says to tell you all that she is REALLY good at sanding if anyone needs any help.
Thanks again to all of you for your unbelievable coolness.
Kelly and Lisa
Kelly, tell Lisa to mix up about 1/4 cup of the premium filler and add the appropriate amount of hardener. then add about a tablespoon of acetone to the mix. this will thin it and make it much easier to spread and fill in scratches and gouges. It's kinda like icing a cake!!!!:D;):eek:
Very cool of your neighbor to help with the trailer ! Sometimes after sitting a while the nuts and bolts at times become a challenge ..
Woody I tried the acetone trick the other day and you were right .. It does help with the spreading of thin coats . I just try not to mix up too much at one time because it sure goes off pretty quick . 3-m is pretty proud of the stuff and I don't like wasting it ..
Do you all think a week is long enough cure time for the epoxy for the flip ?
Welp ' if Kelly and Lisa get there homework done on the trailer we might get her flipped on Sunday ! :cool:
Spider cracks in the gellcoat can only be fixed with grinding down to glass or V-grooving then filling correct ?
^^yep...that's what I did too. Used a dremel & made the area look like the next spiderman movie. Then filled with a mixture of microballoons & cabosil. Sanded them down & gel....can't even see where they once were. Hoping the flip goes without a hitch.Can't wait to see picture proof!! IT'S FRIDAY!!!
~Hey folks this is Lisa. So Thursday Sam walks into the garage "I brought you a present", holding a quart of black paint. Suggesting it would look good on the trailer, make it look like a brand new one he says. So I get to my Homework. I brushed it down with a steelbrush (probably not enough) sanded some and applied Ospho rust inhibitor to slow down the rust. Waited about an hour (says on directions 30 minutes) it turned dark, then rinsed according to instructions on bottle. Let dry then applied two coats of primer, sanded and another coat of primer. This I did on the cross bar, springs and brackets. Then applied about three coats of gray paint. I thought it looked good with the brushed aluminum. So homework is done, maybe I"ll get an A, but Charles would probably have given me a C, lol. Trailer is not quite ready, needs rest of rollers, haven't covered that in class yet, lol. pics attached -we think Sam is awesome, he reminds me so much of Charles in the way he likes everything to be perfect. I can't find the right words to express how grateful we are for Sam and Mike and for all the encouragement we have been given on this forum. We wish the very best for all of you.
Lisa
