Re: 1974 Chieftan 21' 165 Mercruiser I/O
Crazy about the oil based paint...
Cabin top looks great sitting back on the hull!
Don't forget the kerf for the steering arm in the keyhole cutout, and getting it sealed well too.....
Thanks Jb. I forgot that cut out on the last I/O transom until it was already in place. This time I did on the sawhorses which was alot easier to cut and seal.
Has Putin invaded MD too?
Man that stinks.
Hey, boat is coming together nice though!
I'm thinking maybe he has Jason. I've never lived in such a liberal state which is kindof split between a very conservative southern farming/fishing region and a liberal northern region. It was a big shocker coming here from Texas.... in more ways than one. Lots of new taxes (rain tax? lol), regulations, and left leaning thinking. For example, I just spent $2000 to put liscense plates on three of my vehicles. I'm having to save up for the other 2.
I doubt HD/Lowes/AceHardware would ask to see a license if you bought oil based in Virginia. But I've never tried to smuggle oil based paint
Ban also means no enamel hardener....
That's what is funny... you can still buy Rustoleum oil base by the gallon and quart in the box stores. And, get hardner at the TSC. I think these new laws are dealing with the auto paint people and body shops.
She's coming together and looking great CJ! :thumb:
Thanks Watermann!
Just a little progress yesterday. I know there is snow back in the forcast for next week, but I'm sure enjoying the warm up.
The top windshield and grab rails are installed.

I've been cleaning up the aluminum with laquer thinner and a green scotch brite pad. There's lots of paint, grim, and silicone all over everything. The laquer thinner seems to be working better than the rubbing compound, mother's, or the aluminum polish.
