I think I have to disagree with you. The worst punishment is having a really amazing boat project. Having the time and the money to work on it, but being so sick that you can't. So you come home everyday and stare at the TV and wish you were healthy enough to grind and scrape paint. That is pure hell.

Quite a bit more progress on the bottom of the hull. The starboard side is completely scraped. It's had two passes with 60 Grit on the da. This morning I mixed up half gel coat half resin then thickened it up to toothpaste consistency with cabosil. I took this and spread it on all the imperfections on the hull. The port side of the boat is almost halfway scraped. It's more work than I like, but it's coming along at a decent pace.

Just thought I'd throw this atcha for what it's worth...We ALL have spent a LOT of time, working on the Hull Bottom, getting it, as smooth and flat as we can. Experience tell us later that...The Fish don't care and neither should we. As long as it's sound and looks good from 10 ft away...it's good enuf. 6 months after your splash, you'll understand what I'm saying.

Yes, pace yourself. I work 7am to 10. Then 20 minutes or so outside at a time until 5 or so, then get after it until dark or mosquitos send me inside. Lots of water.

Filled. Sanded. Ready for a first coat of gel.

First coat sanded. Ready for some minor patching and gelcoat number two.

TIP: You can thicken the Gelcoat with some cabosil and spread it with a bondo spreader or plastic putty knife. This will fill low spots and pin holes very nicely in between spray coats. Kinda like using Gelcoat for a filler for the Gelcoat!!!!

I finished the second coat of gel coat on the bottom and have started back scraping the sides of the hull. Almost done with the port side.

I used a shower curtain to take a tracing of the Glastron oval on the side of the boat before I scrape it off.

It's time for a cold one. The entire port side of the boat has had its gelcoat removed!
