Looks great, Jason, I'm recovering from my beat down!!. Have you thought about using one of those nice Coleman stainless coolers for your helm seat? Would work great and give you a good place to keep all the fish your going to catch cold!!

Glen, you read my mind! Well, kinda......

Huh, very interesting thought you have there!

Well, I was planning on building a helm seat box. One I could slide one of these into...

I could just take it out when I get home for fish dinner prep, eh.

But!

You make a very interesting suggestion there:)

I could build a platform/base sort of a deal and secure this to it...

Humgh. That would look pretty sharp wouldn't it? I be coughing up $$ for all that stainless though.

Hmmmm, I'll need to stew on that a little.

Thanks for the suggestion Glen:D

Looks great. I wouldn't put anything wood-toned in the slick new boat.

I think the stainless is a bit too much 'bling' for your fishing boat. I like the bleacher seats with a cheap cooler inside the helm seat.

Jas, I love the idea of some nice finished wood accents in the boat. Like you said, it really will break up the monotony of all that painted surface. I was wondering what you had in store for those bleachers... Any plans to use those in your Islander as well?

Thanks bro!

No? Not so much?

I was planning on using this...

...for the helm dash, and the stern bench, eh?

I think a nice piece of burnished aluminum would tie the dash into the aluminum of the boat, and I found Coleman makes a metal silver powder coated cooler that would like like it fit right in.

Yah, I do have some plans to put some of that in the Islander. Man, I really need to get her back in the garage and get going.

I do have that 1/4" thick alum left that could be used for a dash.

Hmmmmmm.....

Well, I thought I had all this business figured out guys. You have definitely given me some things to stew on here.

Thanks for your input!:)

How many walleye will fit in that little blue cooler?

I was thinking it would be for juice boxes and capri suns:)

That SS Coleman is one sweet piece of refrigeration equipment(and more room for fish):D:D

I like the new plan, more open space is a good thing. You can always move coolers/gear around that way, depending on who's on board that day:)

Considering my fishing skills, even the smallest cooler would would just fine for my daily catch:facepalm:

Yah, I do like the opened up midships area way better:D

Hey, lil help if any of you Super Sport guys can swing it....

I'd really like to know the height, width, and depth of your console, if it's at all convenient for ya??

I know mine will be just a little smaller but I'd like some sort of reference to work from, ya know.

I'd be way appreciative as I am darn close to that part of the build:)

Good call Bcast, bigger cooler it is! Well, plus I enjoy a generous lunch so extra cooler space is always appreciated:)

A.M. progress:

I got the second coat of Rustoleum down on the deck. I believe I'll not put a third down as it's looking purdy good and still has a very nice, subtle texture to it.

I also mocked up a console out of cardboard. Thanks for the dimensions Glen (of your boat:rolleyes:) that helped. I didn't set it in the rig as the deck was still plenty wet with paint. I'll post up a photo for ya when it dries up a bit.

Given my change in direction in seating and layout, I'm kinda changing up my completion list a bit too. Plus I knocked out a couple of items since my last list:
  • Build/paint and install the console
  • Rig the controls, steering, gauges, electrical, fuel tanks/lines, batts
    (maybe a Sea Trial here)
  • Build and install seating and rod holders
  • Paint and install casting deck hatch
  • Stick on some decals and MC numbers

Maiden Voyage BY TURKEY DAY!

Man, that list is actually starting to look short:D

Hey it's Friday, have a great weekend guys!

The two projects were about dead even not too long ago. At the moment one seems to be a bit further along than the other.

Jen asked me last night, "So when are you going to put that boat in the water? I just need to know so I can mark my calendar for the day I have a total melt down."
