That hunter green would be nice. Save the black for the islander.

Yah, saw that too. I wish I knew the difference between between the regular Rusto and the Pro (besides the labeling).

I grabbed a couple of sheets of the Arauco for the deck too;)

Mmmmm...V7538 Hunter Green........

Yah, this ^^^^^ may be very well the route I take. There is something I really like about the dark green over the alum. And, I still want the Islander black too.

Or....

Make this rig black then paint the Islander blue to keep the bride happy.

Ugh, I struggle:facepalm:

Rubrails look great really lucked out being able to use those. I like the Hunter green over alum idea should really make it pop You could always put a mini swoosh on there in white or black if You want those colors as well:)
To keep the bride happy
After 17 years I've concluded this part may be impossible but still worth the effort so keep at it :D

Jas, those old glassers just keep giving and giving . Nice work on putting her rub rails on a real boat. I didn't see Plum Crazy in your color choices, so no comment - LOL.

Awe man, I am just to plane of a guy to put any swooshs in there or anything like that. Shoot, my wardrobe includes a 5 pack of white T's that I picked up from the grocery store.

Well, the wife lets me live with her, so maybe I'm getting a couple things right eh!

Plumb crazy might be the builder, not so much a color option buddy:D

nice forward progress jas

Hey Eric, welcome to iboats! Glad ya stopped by man!:)

OK, progress accountability post - nothing special here...

I did just a little more hull cleaning in prep for Gluvit. Still a few spots that needed to fully dry as of this morning so tomorrow or the next day I'll go for it.

I also installed the trolling motor backer plates.

Then I started measuring out for the deck and such.

No photos for whatever reason, kinda boring I spose.

I did decide today that I am going to go black on the hull.

Then I changed my mind and decided the dark green would look great over the alum.

Then I instead decided that white would be a great classic color to go with.

I have problems:facepalm:

Oh dear Jas... think about this. Is it a keeper? If so go for your favourite colour combination.

If you intend to sell it then go for the classic white because people can more easily see how they can "personalise" the blank canvas you created for them.

Personally, I love my bare alloy hull, black sides and white top but the black is a b@stard to keep clean in salt water. Keeping the hull unpainted means you can do this without a worry..

The white is great for hot days, the aluminium gunwales and cabin top hardly heats up at all.

Oh dear Jas...

I know man, I stink at picking colors, bottom line.

Yup, I'll be keeping this rig for a very long time.

My favorite color combo? Well, I really like all three a lot no doubt.

If I go with the dark green hull the topsides would be grey. I do like the green/alum combo a lot. The real bummer here is that I'll need to paint the trailer grey too. I know dumb right. I'd just need to do it (too many colors going on otherwise). This way the Islander could be black or blue.

If I go with the black the topsides will be white. This color combo just reads like a serious fishing rig (even though I am a mediocre fisherman, at best). Like yours TII ^^^^, sweet ride bro!!! This would mean the Islander would be blue. Not a bad thing at all mind you.

Or, all white. Just a simple, classic color ya know. Like that a lot too.

Either way, I need to decide soon. I'll not let it slow the progress. It's already slow enough:rolleyes:

Boy, I am aiming to have this in the water before the snow flies teamster. Truth be told I'd really like the Islander back in the garage working on her by the end of the month. Eh, very likely not going to happen - we'll see.

Gluvit...

Done. I went with light brown color:p

For those of you with multiple boat syndrome, just a heads up when you are buying Gluvit - that one gallon gave me enough to lay down a very generous layer on both the 22' Islander and this 15' Jet.

I picked away some of that brown adhesive on the outside of the hull, right at the bow, so it would look nice. Here on the inside I dropped the bow down and dumped in what was left in the bottom of the can...

So, Gluvit, check;)

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

I'm color challenged myself. My left side brain is constantly trying to eat my right side brain. The Offshore is going to be white, with a hint of black. Like the old Sea Ray's. Or blue and white..........arghhh. Same problem as you, I'll have my brother help me out he's the artistic one in the family. I'm pragmatic to a fault.

Glad to see progress my Starcraft Broham. Boy has the weather changed. I took the fam to Frankenmuth Friday and it was upper 90's. Monday it was a high of 62.

My wife swears she saw a coyote at the end of our street. We are only 5 miles outside the Detroit city limits too. Then buggers are everywhere.

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Good to see your progress. I did the same thing with the gluvit in the bow.

I'm so glad color selection is behind me. We decided on 2 potentials but agreed that I'd make the final call at the boat supply shop when I saw actual color samples. I didn't like either one and after an hour of scoping out every single color there I walked away with black, my original choice. Using mist grey on bottom and top sides that is almost white so as T2 says it should keep somewhat cool.

Hey BD I have friends in Frankenmuth and we went up a few years ago. Quaint place and good german food.

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Since this boat is a small water fishing craft, you'll find yourself spending a lot of time fishing relatively shallow water, so the fishies are gonna see yer boat. If you fish highly pressured water, they're gonna know that boats = bad. Boat colors that contrast against the rest of the fishie's view (the surface, the sky) will make your boat more visible to them. So I think the bare aluminum bottom is a great idea. Black sides = high contrast.

Just something else to consider.

I did the same thing with the gluvit up in the bow in my Islander - came uncomfortably close to plugging that first limber hole. Your puddle looks smaller though so you may be alright.

Just drill a small drain hole through the hull, no larger than 3/16".

Man you guys are a sharp group!!! (good looking too)

Aaaaaaaaccctually....

There is no limber hole in that first rib. Interesting eh.

I thought about dumping some more goop/epoxy/PL/whatever to build it up enough to dump any water up and over that first rib. Knowwhattamean?

Rock on fellas!!:D

Well seriously now, couldn't you just drill a hole in the front of the rib right at the lowest point and another in the back of the rib? Obviously you'd have to be VERY CAREFUL.

You try it first Jas and tell us how it goes. ;)
