Mine rails were full of hundreds of holes, dents, dings, and any other type mishap u can think of. I actually went with carpet. Used brown packing paper to make a template of the gunnel and then laid it on indoor/outdoor carpet and outlined the template. Used an ordinary pair of scissors to cut the carpet and had a local guy bind all the edges for about $90. Here is how mine turned out.. Used a web spray adhesive to stick it and holds well. Can't remember the name of the adhesive but im sure i have a pic of it somewhere... ill try to find it

Here is just a couple more. I found the adhesive pic. Also did the inside walls of the hull. That is as much carpet as I wanted in the boat.

Re: {1965 Jupiter Restoration}

well i got out the hammer and dolly and spent about two hours beating out dents. Still not happy with it. The carpet looks good but not really what i would like to put there. Wood that rubber is a great idea. im going to paint it for now and come back to this later. there kinda hard to see in the pics since there real shallow. more wavy then anything.

im getting ready to go get new wood for the floor. ( i had already bought some but the weather has ruined it) :facepalm: when i get it in what should i seal the floor with?

going to test fit the transom and start drilling the holes in it, figured it would be easier to vacuum out the wood shavings with the floor still out.

PT it Pressure treated Plywood and the chemicals in it will EAT your boat and I'm NOT kidding.!!!! Hey, I was in Big Lots yesterday and they have a 4 x 8 piece of 1/4" foam mat that looks like diamond plate flooring. If you cut it into strips for your gunwales it might look really good.

The gunwales are looking like they could use some Marine Tex or JB filler. That PT is a NO NO on out tinnies. That baby is coming along nicely.

Pinit, most guys here use Epoxy to seal plywood, but keep in mind it's affected by UV so once sealed you'll have to use a varnish or paint to stop the UV rays destroying your hard work.

Two choices, Epoxy or Resin and Mat. Nothing available locally in the quantities you need.
www.uscomposites.com You'll need a couple of gallons and if you use Poly and Mat you'll need 6 yds of CSM mat.

Re: {1965 Jupiter Restoration}

got the first two parts of the floor in, the transom test fitted, needs a little sanding. i have to go pick up some more floatation this week sometime. Most likely go with resin and mat to seal it the floor. my father in law owns an auto salvage and he can order that stuff in big amounts.
