Ugh I have that same kind of trailer winch... The clamp bar on mine is broken so it can't lock. Does yours come with the removable handle for both gears?

Yep the winch was in perfect condition except the PO had it Bogged down with axle grease so I disassembled it completety and will be reassembling. Very unique winch. I Love it!!!!

Yeah, I remember that too!!!! BUT... Looking at it now it was worth it and I'm sure mine will be too!!!!! But if I remember correctly, in the end he did his trailer too!!!!!

That's exactly how I looked at it and even though it's gunna cost me a week, in the long run I'm sure I''l be glad I did it.

Ya its a good idea to finish everything before getting it to the lake, otherwise you'll never want to finish it, ask me how I know. This winter I either need to restore my trailer or get a new one. It works but not real well.

this boat is a real beauty. a real credit to iboats and your work. congrats bud.

one thing......you mentioned you were not gonna splash the boat till the trailer was done or even next year.....

are you gonna tell me that you are going to wrap a blanket over the boat.....and let it sleep till the water gets soft again........lol

isnt that like giving a kid a set of water skis for christmas at the north pole?.....

SPLASH THAT PUPPY !

Well here in Oklahoma with this Heat wave, I will probably splash her in a couple of weeks. It will still be 100 degrees.
Thanks for the kudo's. I been taking my time and trying to bring her back to her old glory.

I KNOW it's just a trailer but... I can't seem to help my self...
Heres some pics to show the progress slow as it is.

All the small parts and Fenders Hanging and Dry!!

Really nice work as usual. I agree with you, you are too ANAL!!!!!! LOL. Wiring is the easy part if ya ask me, I've rewired many many trailers!!! Its the sanding and prep and painting that I hate.

You would probably puke if you saw my trailer, it works, but, this winter it needs some work!!

When you get the boat back on the trailer and you stand back and look at them ..... You'll know it was all worth it.

I'm starting to think you like working on the boat and painting more than you like boating. I was accused of that too so don't feel bad, LOL.

Its all coming together nicely Wood. It'll be well worth it when you roll up to the ramp with a showroom fresh classic. :D

Man, life is really gettin in the way of me finishing this boat. 91 yr. old mom, Wife, Grandkids, Work. EVERYTHING seems to be working against me. I hope to get the trailer all put back together and wired this weekend and MAYBE get "Blue Flamingo" put back on the trailer. I am really frustrated that I have no time to get anything done.

i know how you feel WOG, i keep running into the life issues as well, i just wish i was as far along as you are, then it wouldn't be so bad with how much i still have to get done before the cold starts moving in and puts a stop to the glassin.............still have about 8 gallons to go through with all the work included

Mike,

The trailer looks really good, and I am sure you will be glad you did the work now, instead of later. We already know you enjoy working on these old classics as much as you do running them on the water, I think I?m the same way doing my Lone Star. My trailer is close to what you have, not an exact match, but I do think it was original to my 61 Fleetwood. I need all new rollers, bunks, bearings, and paint.
Heck if I can get just my glasswork done before the snow flies, I will consider the summer very productive. You can run the boat much later in the season in Oklahoma, here in Michigan we are done by October. Looking really good Mike.

Nice job so far on the trailer...glad to see you're doing it right (not that I would expect anything less from you) just that how many times have we seen and nice restore sit back on a rusted up old carrier.....keep up the good work.

Hint the newer LED light kits are really nice.

Yeah, I been debating on the lights...Restore and Keep the Originals or go modern. I think you have convinced me... LED it is.

Yeah you're right, I do LOVE restoring these old girls, but... I like being on the water too!!!! If all goes well I MIGHT make the end of the month. We'll see what other CURVE BALLS life can throw between now and then.

Thanks to all for your kind remarks. Keeps a fella going!!!!;)
