A 100000 times better now. And much easier to see now since the camo is gone. Doesn't even look like the same boat. :thumb:

Thanks guys. Not the best weather to paint, but gotta keep at it so I can splash it once the Ice is gone. Wasted way too much fishing time looking at that holiday in the garage the last couple years. I'm done spending more time working on them than using them.

^^^ 48" wide midship an d 36" wide at transom

Yea, see mIne is 52" with a lot less of a taper to the rear, With only a 2" drop in width at the rear bench at 50" I've never really been sure what measurement to call the rear with the barrel back. Maybe his was a utility from the beginning, I just saw the steering cable guides and thought it must have had a top on it at some point . Interesting. I sure wish I could a "in person" look at it.

Just for the heck of it I measured my rear last night. At its widest points across the transom, its about 51".

For as cold as its been the paint set up pretty hard. Can give it a pretty hard dig with the finger nail and I cant scrape any paint off. Score for trusty Rustoleum once again.

Re: 1952 14ft DuraCraft Resto

Picked up the motor today after work. Guy had it on Ebay not far from me. Ended up being a 58, not 56. Things look good on it, didn't do a compression test yet but it sure feels good for an old 5.5HP. I did toss the spark tester on it and it has spark, so that's cool. Will be a fun little restore.

Asked the guy if he had any other boat junk. Go back to his small barn and the dude had atleast a dozen motors, most being similar era omcs all over the place. Old control boxes, two line tanks, you name it. Outside was another couple dozen motors in various stages of disrepair. I had to get home or id still be there drooling. Before running away with all my money I did score a couple folding fishing seats in halfway decent shape with brackets for $20. I won't be surprised if I somehow wander back.

Should be a nice stable boat for what you are wanting to use it for. I measured my transom (I'm guessing across the same points as you did) and got the same 51" . As I've posted before, my son has a Mckenzie with roughly the same measurements and it felt nice and stable.

I don't think he's resisting. Just waiting to pounce. :joyous: It's nice to find a collector/hoarder willing to part with some goodies.
