Re: Ashamed.......

Should be plenty strong, built like a tank... Not meant for rough duty, but a get out & fish boat, yeah, should be. A gunwale edging of some type (plastic, rubber, wood) might be in order, just to protect the gunwale edge & the boat occupants.

Re: Ashamed.......

All that stuff in the bow was built by the PO I think. It's all plywood. I might open it up a little more but will probably just cut it a few more inches and clean it up.

Re: Ashamed.......

There is a finished/smooth lip on the sides still. Where the bow was cut the just folded it under so that's not a hazard either. But yeah, it's sturdy as could be,.

Definitely a one of a kind there Charlie, once you get the couple hundred pounds of armor off and clean her up, you should have a great little fishing / utility boat.

Nice Tin.:joyous:
Have you found a tag or stamped numbers yet?

There is a tag with like a 6 digit code on it, ill pull the numbers off it tonight. Is there a decoder ring to figure out the year on these?

Paging a moderator.......

Looks like I have a resto thread started.  If you would be so kind as to push it into the resto area. Change the title to 14ft DuraCraft Resto if you can.

Re: Ashamed.......

Pretty sure you can change your own thread title, go back to the first thread and change the title.

You may have to move it out of the SC thread ya turncoat.

My '52 was a 5 digit, 14XXX. M casey stock has been tracking Duracraft boats and numbers. If anyone has the secret decoding ring it's him.

That's a pretty slick little boat ya got there. I have to say the older boats are in a class all their own. Yea, modern hulls are pretty sexy but still don't hold a candle to the styling of the old tin.

Sorry, but I would call that an upgrade. LOL :) The only way it could have been better is if it would have been a FeatherCraft, but only then in styling. Looks like it got the same treatment as mine did, in that some goober decided to do a hack job on the bow. The fuel cell up front is way cool and I see it still has at least some of the steering hardware. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. She sure could be a beauty if done right.

In it's present condition your boat looks like refried rat crap, but on the bright side anything you do to it will be an improvement!

Duracrafts are great boats if you like a narrow, stern heavy boat without any interior room.

Sounds like you just described the perfect woman :) although I actually find my DC quite roomy and the curves are just plain sexy.

I like my boats like I like my women too... except I want the biggest, fattest, ugliest, nastiest one I can find.

although I actually find my DC quite roomy

That sounds like you've never been in a real boat.

The 5digit number is the serial #. Not sure about the H though...

Did you look for a stamped number on the port transom corner, between the port rear handle & the top of that batwing, cat's ear stickup transom corner?

Mine was stamped there too. Some Duracrafts have a 2 stamped above the stamped serial number, but as of yet, no one knows what it means or why it's there.

I just have a small little tag with that number on it. Nothing like your picture.

And no stamped number on the outside port corner of the transom?

That's the great thing about fish, I've never heard one judge anyones boat.
