Hey EZ, glad that is going to work out for you. I'm considering the same on mine, we'll see if my seals and bearings are as rare as yours.

You should be on the water soon!

Oh, I'd probably do the 3500 if it will fit. Once you add boat+motor+trailer frame+all the crap for a weekend of boating I'm guessing it would push past 2000.

I was guessing the same thing. I can't see how adding an inch on either side would make much of a difference.

The Jupiter sold for $2100 on Saturday. I'm definitely sad that it's gone. However, I will probably get to see it as its new owner boats on one of the same bodies of water I do.

I just now ordered $1000 worth of seats for the SS from iboats!

I am still hoping to splash it once before I tear it apart but we'll see if the weather cooperates.

If ys don't mind me asking how much did these cost and do they have storage inside the base.http://www.iboats.com/mall/image/view/3/7/wd1610p_555_grey_blue_11.jpg

Let me know when you get the seats. I want to take a good look at the lounge seats.

John, you gotta read more than the last page :p

I had to return those as I ended up not having room enough for lounges and jumps. I went with buckets and jumps. They were hella-nice though!

...... F trailers.

Hmmm, I've heard of 'A' grade & 'B' grade trailers, but never 'F' :eek::D
I didn't look at your links, but if it fits, I would go with the heavier duty one as well, peace of mind if nothing else.

Hey, did you ever replace your short cable{shift/throttle?} I've got one about three ft too short myself :( ...I haven't looked to see, if or what's available, just curious!

EZ, I didn't see a spare on the trailor when you first brought her home, and since its only money, maybe consider a spare when you get the axle. Piece of mind on long road trips. I am sure that crossed your mind but its just a friendly reminder. Dale

SUCCESS!!!! Tractor supply had everything I needed. I went with the 3500lb axle and it was practically plug and play. The project couldn't have gone better. I even stopped at Harbor Freight on the way home to get a new grinder (mine died) assuming I may have to modify the spring seats but I didn't even have to take it out of the box.

My bad @ss bunk guides. Pretty sure I could load drunk and stoned with these things :p

My ill-fitting cover. I know it looks ok in this pic and it does get the job done but it really it about a foot short. I played the iboats cover lottery (the crazy sale they have in the fall) and lost. Still pretty effective for the $40 or so I paid for it.

Re: 18' Starcraft SuperSport restoration

Well I don't know what's up with the huge images. I resized them in photobucket. They must be cached somewhere. Hopefully they will eventually correct themselves.

Plan is to splash the boat on Friday although the weather looks iffy. If it's not raining, I'm going. I have a few items left to do before then:

- Install new lights on the trailer
- Put the registration numbers on the boat
- Put my other Starcraft decal on the port side
- Change the lower unit oil in the motor
- Run the motor and adjust the idle speed up a bit
- Put 4200 in the holes in the transom which are for the swim platform. That's not ready to go on yet and I need to temporarily seal the holes
- Swap out the thru-splashwell fuel line fitting with a better fitting one I've already bought
- Install new boot I bought for motor cables as they come through the splashwell
- Clean the boat! The whole thing is dusty from all the work

Also, before TinStock, new wheels and tires will go on the trailer and a motor tune up will be done. Bearing buddies will also be installed.

Looks excellent!!! Glad the trailer saga is over! And it looks like your to-do list is all easy stuff. Here's hoping for no more snags!

Re: 18' Starcraft SuperSport restoration

Awesome EZ! Your whole ordeal has me thinking about my setup. I know that I would want to have my bearings repacked which is usually in the $80 to $100 range, per axle, to have the auto shop do it. Or I could go through the frustration and expense that you did and give it a shot myself which would likely still cost me in the $80 per axle range (with new hubs). Or, I could just go buy a whole new deal for $120 to $150 range, per axle, and be done! I could turn around a sell my old axles that I pull off to help offset the cost of new too! Yah, I may go that route. Watching you wrestle through this has me pretty much convinced.

Have I mentioned that I really love that you guys are working ahead of me!!!! Thanks man!!!:D:D
