If you do have one, you are cutting the voltage to the coil down to around 8 volts. Not much for the EST. Without seeing your wiring, I can't tell you...

    Re: Rattle from drive when revved in neutral or hard take off in gear. The flex plate is also known as a vibration damper. When they get rusty from water getting through the bearing, they tend to fail, come loose and can rattle. Here is a picture of a typical flex plate/vibration damper.

    Re: mercruiser 470 alternator conversion no start wiring question Here is a wiring diagram from a Chevy V8 using the single wire alternator like you are now installing. It goes to the red/white wire. Fords did the same thing.
