1995 Wellcraft Ecliplse wont start

I need help figuring out why my 1995 Welcraft Eclipse wont start. I was out on the lake with it this weekend towing the kids and was low on gas and then actually ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. I knew I had a little left in it and kept trying to start it three of four times and then when I turned the key there was nothing, not even an attempt to turn over. It isnt the battery because when I turn the key, the voltage meter registers. could this be my starter cylinoid? Please help.

Could be a number of things, what engine do you have? 95 Wellcraft doesn't tell us what the engine is.
