    Dead in the water!

    Bad Solenoid?

    I have a 1989 mercruser with the alpha 1 gen 1. on occasion when i trim down i just hear a click and no trim motor! i was curious what would happen if i bypassed the solenoid. it trimmed down just fine when bypassed. the clicking only happens sometimes. Could it just be a bad solenoid?

    Is 235 too hot?

    just installed a new impeller, new water pump, new thermostat and new temp gauge with sending unit. i have a 1988 4.3 mercruiser. the temp holds steady at 235! is this too hot? whats the optimum running temp supposed to be? did i miss something? thanks.
