Here is a troubleshooting manual that may be of use. https://www.cdielectronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/CDI%20Troubleshooting%20Guide%20-%202012.pdf

    '95 120hp compression test results

The stainless does not corrode, but the galvanic reaction it sets up with Aluminum in contact with salt water caused the aluminum to "bloom" and seriously bind the fasteners.

At some point they went from solid bolts torqued to X ft lbs to bolts that were torqued to X + Y degrees of turn. These are stainless as I understand it. but I have practice at being incorrect.

There is always the risk of broken head bolts, especially on a salt water motor. At some point they went with stainless bolts, which when exposed to salt water makes the aluminum corrosion bloom and then you have a problem.

    Wont start. Please help

A low probability possibility is it ran, but might have a loose magnet from the flywheel. If one comes loose it will run while is is still moving, but it will not start again. If that is the case you will hear some scraping under the flywheel as the magnets drags on the stator end poles. Not a...

    Replace kill switch or bypass?

If you have a post 1996 you should have CDM modules and not a CDI box. I think. You should have a red stator with 4 leads Two Yellow and green/white and white/green IIRC. The trigger would have one black wire with a ring terminal and then 4 other wires and no black / white with a bullet...

    Sputtering when at full throttle

When you turn the carb upside down to check the setting, try blowing through the fuel inlet to make sure the valve shuts off the flow.

    Replace kill switch or bypass?

As of April 1 federal law requires the use of the kill switch if the boat is (was) equipped with one. If you are in federal waters that is. Many states have followed this guideline. There are some exceptions, but why risk your life and that of others?

1993 mercury force 90 hp not starting

Pull the carbs and clean them and blow out the passages with compressed air. Make certain you have fuel flow to the carbs and the bulb pumps up hard. Also make sure you have fresh fuel. If it starts on starting fluid then it should run on gasoline. I make a habit of making sure that there is...

    No spark

You could (I think) try a spark tester on the top plug after swapping the trigger from #2 to #1, perhaps. If it sparked on the #2 and not the #1 you would have your answer as to trigger. Please note - I have no experience on this engine, but I assume you could try this. I often test for spark...

    1990 Force 90hp 3 cylinder won't start ughh

You may have a bad CDI box or if the starter is dragging you are not getting to coming in speed for the magnetos. It has to turn about 300 RPM to reliably start. Have you checked the voltages? Google Force ignition testing for some good guide lines. If you hear a dragging sound from the...

Questions on '76 Chrysler 105 first start after sitting for years.

Go ahead and spray some lube in the cylinders as it really won't make that much difference. Perhaps a little WD-40 or some 2 stroke oil. After all the fuel will be carrying oil with it all the time and the bottom end as well lubricating the bottom of the cylinder etc. If you have a serious...

    Force 125 lacking power

The ring gap should have a small pin aligning them in the notch on the ID at the ring gap. At least on the later model engines.

    Force 125 lacking power

Seal that "New" used head gasket with Hylomar blue and not silicone RTV. The Hylomar will seal and be reused. I have done it fairly often with no problems.

1966 Sea King 6hp idles ~ 10 seconds, accelerates then quits

If you keep pumping the ball after starting the engine does it do the same thing? It does sound like the engine is running out of fuel as it would be a little rich and the RPM would tend to increase a little as it leaned, just before it quit. We check for the mixture on piston aircraft engine by...

1988 force Full throttle only 3500 rpm

WOY doe not need to be with the boat running free. The timing is mechanical and has to do with the effect of the bias circuit at high RPM. It needs to be high enough to kick in but it levels off at the peak. If you have a problem you will see the timing go too high even if you are not at maximum...

1988 force Full throttle only 3500 rpm

The timing can't be much simpler. Set the low and then check to see that the WOT is correct. It (in my opinion) is OK to do it at the dock, tied securely with an observer. The static timing should put you pretty close.

    Force 70Hp 1991 charging issues

The AC from the stator is on the two yellow wires. Measure the voltage between those two yellow wires. It should be ~ 20 vac. if I remember right. Either way the AC is rectified in the Rectifier/regulator t o higher than 14 volts. The regulator keeps the voltage from going too high for the battery.
