    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Several steps closer tonight. A good couple coats of gelcoat in the engine bay. Just incase anyone wondered each engine pad has to support 220lbs and the transom plate has to support 170lbs or approximately. I scaled the motor today before installing it for my own curiosity.

No not the motor. The outdrive what Oil does it use and how much? Is there a certain way of doing it?

So there must be a place to look for it but what is the oil fill procedure and important things to know on the volvo sp and 280? The Seloc manual doesn't seem to have the info in it. If it does I'm not finding it. This is the only volvo I've ever owned. I don't want to have a screw up like...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

The new heads came in on FedEx today. Yay! The FedEx guy carried both of them together across 4 lanes of traffic up 6 steps and across my front yard. Somebody ate their Wheaties. These look so much better I only wish I would've ordered them earlier and not waited on the other for 2 weeks to...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Okay I have a question that I can't seam to find the answer for. I want to add a set of self bailing deck drains on either side of the engine compartment at the back of the boat. I ordered a set of SS drains they are 22mm so roughly 7/8". Should I tie them together or send them separately...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Yeah it took a odd direction yesterday. The machine shop may be just trying to turn work away as how busy they are or trying to save me some time. Yeah I was concerned more about the compression ratio then secondly if they would even work with the smaller cylinders.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

They were eroded above the valve seat. It looked like they had water sitting on the area around the seat. My 1st thought was how bad could it be then I saw them and was like Holy Chit! Now finding a decent set of replacements may be the hard part. I have a set of a 350 but I am not sure what...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Bad news from the machine shop today it seems as though the exhaust seats in this mirror are in terrible condition. The motor was a running motor and showed no signs of any mechanical issues. I sent the heads in to be reworked mostly just oil seals and a good checking over. These things are...

Do older aluminum boats have the same issues with waterlogged foam?

I mean it surely can't be as bad as your making out to be they've been using it to float docks forever. Pink packing peanuts for flotation foam that's a new one. Lol

Do older aluminum boats have the same issues with waterlogged foam?

It kinda depends on the foam used. The white styrene type that is usually inside the seats on smaller type doesn't have water soaking trouble. The pourable expanding foam usually a yellowish color that's used below deck will eventually soak in water.

Well quite a bit of progress today. The 1st fish box is ready to assemble. And the big gapping hole in the transom for the 290.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Moving along today the 1st fish box is in and glassed. Got the first look at what the deck is going to be like under to top. I think I have the drive height figured out we'll work on cutting the hole next. I really should've went outboard and bracket but hopefully the volvo works good and...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Cut a hole and hope for the best. Currently I don't have a hole other than what was left open from the 280 and there's plenty of room to go up or down here at this point. Within reasonable distance up or down. I've had to adjust outboards to get the best run position, but that's a whole...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

The cavitation plate height in reference to the bottom of the boat is what I'm trying to get right since there's not much going back once the hole is cut. Though there is a 1" spacer that can be added to lower it should I be to high. I guess Mercruiser's guide can help with the figuring process...

    1978 Chrysler floor help?

I just wanted to bring it up the added weight. A 1/2 sheet of plywood is 40lbs. Everything weighs something and it adds up.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Placing the outdrive is the hard job for this week. I really only get one chance at this one. The boat that the 290 came out of had the cavitation plate about 1" above the bottom of the boat according to the drawings I posted earlier. The kicker is I'm not entirely sure where the 280 was located...

    1978 Chrysler floor help?

About the same. The Bassrunner had a textured fiberglass floor a couple soft spots and a cracking we didn't notice when we bought it, but then again it was literally the coldest day of the year when we went to pick it up like -15 that day. The floor was solid a as a brick then. Lol This is...
