    1978 Chrysler floor help?

We've got a 72' Chrysler bass runner we just laid some 1/2" over top of the original floor. It has held up okay for about 7 years, but the boat was nothing terribly special just a fishing boat for dad and I. We aid the plywood down screwed in to the old stringers glassed the edges in and then...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Ha Ha I came across my boats sister with the 4cyl volvo instead of the v8. It even has a similar trailer except for the extra axle on mine which I imagine is for the added weight of my v8. The guy was ready to give up cause he couldn't get it to run..

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Well today wasn't too awesome I have to do that thing that pays the bills. But we have the 1st hole cut in the new transom and all sealed up. Now I need to place the outdrive transom shield. I found some drawings I hope are accurate to work with and make my cuts from. And I can't go off the...

Yeah the timeliness is steep for sure. I see what your saying the stringers and spars were bedded in PB so they were already placed in the boat. I used a 4" nap roller to place the resin this time. And it did a pretty fair job even worrying the air out of the mat. I can't wait for some...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Oh my aching back! One thing about cutting almost all the mat and cheese cloth you need is when you are laying the resin to it you don't have to stop. Now to do the starboard side. The large open area will be for a fish box, the rear most will be left open for pumps and access to the bilge...

Took the old bilge stringers & motor mounts out last night they were in terrible shape. I'm gonna make the new ones a tad larger to spread the weight out a bit more.

Yeah may look into that. The one i have is written kinda weird. It's getting new orings and seals. At this point it doesn't have any mechanical issues. Mostly just making sure it keeps the oil where it's supposed to be.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Moving right along. Motor is tore down, heads are off being freshened up, it was a good thing we pulled them off found a tad bit of rust in cylinder 8&4. We're gonna take a chance and re-ring the cylinders and hopefully they'll be fine. Don't want to put a bunch in it right now just need it to...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Well still working on this tub I'm redoing the transom and making it ready for a SP-A that I bought in a complete boat to work from. The SP is a 2:15 ratio the 280 outdrive from what I can tell to be a 1:89 by volvo's parts catalog. I may leave the ratio alone for this summer just to keep it...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Yesterday while looking for parts to bring the Volvo 280 drive in the boat up to spec (bellows, flywheel bearings, & so forth) I found that there was a version of the 280 outdrive that had hydraulic trim. I'm thinking I may try and seek out that transom bracket and update this drive a bit. A...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

It's been a bit. I'm still making way, but slowly. We had the motor up and running this week had to order a new fuel pump and trim motor, carb will need a rebuild too. This is a Volvo AQ225D with a 280 outdrive. As slow as I am at fiberglass work is a good thing I'm not getting paid. The...

    Mercury 2+2 introduced?

I've had 2 of them one on a 89 searay 160 and the other was a 93 that I put on a engine bracket for a 19' aluminum. The 89 is a mid 50 mph boat but you'll kill a skier when the power kicks in and it rips the rope from your hands. The 19' was a 42 mph boat completely different so smooth the 1st...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

It was a 19' with about a 80" beam. It came on plane better at a lower speed. The transom was approximately 2" higher in the water. My speed increased to 40 with a couple adults and me on the boat. Max before was 36 on the OMC 2.3 TKO. Handing was good, throwing a tube around was not any...

Today saw some productive work. Don't kid your self about the strength of that tube trying to remove just the slightest degree out of that tube was impossible even bouncing on it with the bend down and the other end under the ambulance. These are just mocked in position just to understand how...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

This will be what I'm working towards. I think perhaps I may want a spotting tower up top aswell. The rocket launcher mount on the aft section is gonna be raised in the center to keep. From knocking heads on the pass to the stern because of the 2 level deck going into this boat.

Official Business of the 3V Club ( aka tri hull club )

We still have the 45hp Chrysler. The Merc is just so much better though. The only thing we have trouble with is aerating the transducer on plane. That hull tunnel I believe carries air all the way down to the transom.

Official Business of the 3V Club ( aka tri hull club )

Well it's a trihull but it's a bass boat and it's got Mopar roots. How much more wacky could it get? This is our 72 Chrysler bass runner 16'. It's front tiller steer with a transom rated for 70hp on a boat that's about 4ft wide. With a 60hp Merc it runs 42mph loaded. It's a little screamer.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

1 1/2"tubing came in today for me to fab the hard top and swim deck/ jetski carrier. I was slightly concerned about putting a 90 in this pipe, but it bent great. There is a bit of waveiness in the inside of the 90 but I think it'll be just fine for this boat. I welded some smaller tubing back...
