1988 Bayliner Capri 1950 Resto Begins

Cut a section of deck out for a decent sized peep hole and inspect where you're going to be cutting. If you're going for a template nothing missing out of the middle will bother a future measurement. It's fiberglass anything that happens can be fixed most of the time.

1988 Bayliner Capri 1950 Resto Begins

A ultra sonic saw works real well in those areas, but there is nothing wrong with running on the side of caution. Several years ago dad redid a bad section of deck in his Sea Ray 160, the job looked great. I took it to the lake prepared to do work on the trailer bunks while the boat was in the...

Combo trailer for 1 boat and 2 skis

I did not. I followed what magic tilt did. We don't see much salt up here and this might be just a one a year trailer. It's currently for sale of it didn't find a buyer ill use it next year for the same job l, but with a different boat on back.

Combo trailer for 1 boat and 2 skis

I thought I'd share my last project for the big trip of my summer this year. I took the family down to the beach for a week again and this year we needed to be able to haul everything in one trip. So I started looking at trailers and had my mind set on a 30 ft aluminum after many hours of...

Trailer needs new axle. Need ideas.

Have you gave northern tool a look. They have most of the stuff for trailers right in their store. As far as putting the spring over the axle there's a couple ways to go about it. I used a spacer plate for the centering pin to reference on. There's also a spring pass you buy that just sits...

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

I had a 90 spectrum that was my 1st aluminum rebuild. It was a I/O powered with a OMC Cobra that I had some trouble with. I built a outboard bracket for it and hung a 115hp Merc on it. It was such a better boat after that. I sort of regret selling now. I held on to the money the guy paid for...

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

The ones I have worked on the floor was riveted down. That's a nice looking boat. I wish I would've kept the smokercraft I had similar to that one. I bought it to repair and sell though, it has a rather large dent in the hull up front it required taking the front deck out and bucking rivets...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

I think this is going to be how it sits on the boat. I got the deck coped to the transom hopefully have this thing ready by Friday for some time on the water.

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

Some advice. Take plenty of pictures for reference and don't destroy anything that could serve as a template for something you are content with just replacing.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Yeah I have $360 for the thing. I made a highly technical contour gage to decide if this had enough meat to make it fit the boat. Just got to get the spacing and level right.

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

2lb is more for floatation. The heavier types are for strengthing assemblies

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

Yeah deck goes in then drill a few strategically placed holes in it and pour the foam in. The foam is a 2 part product that when mixed reacts by expanding several times its original volume and will fill a space rather quickly when done correctly.

1988 Bayliner Capri 1950 Resto Begins

Is yours a cuddy or a bow rider? I'm doing a 85' cuddy I'm nearly finished now. The transom on the 85 was 2" thick in the center.

Question(s) about replacing the foam/floor in my deep-v

The foam is only needed to maintain enough bouancy to keep the boat at or near the surface in a swamped condition. The boat would float just fine without it. Is your boat aluminum or fiberglass? I would avoid treated wood for any boat projects. Though I have used it in past with no issues...

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

The newest addition to the ongoing project. Should make egress to/from the boat easier.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

All that is clear. I think the problem was up top with the air doors for the secondaries. The gasket for the air horn was fouling the movement. A quick trim with a razor blade and its all smoove again.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

This is a rochester q-jet BTW it only has one bowl. Secondary jets are all clear. What I did find was there was a catch in the doors for the secondaries that I corrected when I reassembled the carb. I also lightened up the tension on the secondaries a bunch. Also there is a dash pot that...

I but it was sealed in a plastic bag to avoid those issues. I'm kinda hoping the fuel pump is just weak or there's something in a fuel line somewhere. The thing idles buttery smooth. It'll be something stupid in sure.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

Had was the correct tense. The guy who rebuilt it has never let me down until this time. He's been building carbs as long as I've been alive. For some reason though this carb has just been trash. I'll get it figured out. Timing was a issue, I forgot about the base running plug thing for...

Maybe. I had it rebuilt, but nothing about this one has been good.
