And of course I forgot the link in earlier post

this is the ultrasonic I used for larger parts you may have to run it through twice with part of it sticking out...
if it runs well and you know what parts to order dont sweat it too much. I took a 4.3 mercruiser used most of accessories wiring fuel pump etc and swapped in a 5.0 so I dont have a merc serial number.
If you get the casting on block I think it would also say 5.7 or 5.0 back there depending...
Here’s a link to mikes carb webpage that has parts and videos for q jet rebuild
Mikes and cliffs are the two guys I would go to for parts not sure if cliff is still selling parts but I don’t think either is rebuilding carbs anymore .
Above you asked what an ultrasonic cleaner is
I got an...
All the common rebuilders like Jasper, ATK, Blueprint Engine etc similar companies that sell through Summit, Jegs etc use them on their engines.
You should be able to tell if it is a roller by the block casting number
Agreed wonder if he hit something in water or coupler gave up the ghost as the back and forth of trolling can be tougher on splines.
Would think oil alarm is a red herring and engine stalled for some reason hence oil pressure alarm with ignition still on.
yes coil can cause it but coils rarely fail unless the sensor inside dist is leaking voltage when car is off heating up coil ( had that on a VW back in the day)
more times than not on TB if it is actually an intermittent ignition issue it will be the sensor inside distributor or ignition...
We are trying ours out this weekend weather permitting. Although I have water skied since I was about 10 I could never slalom either by getting up on one or dropping. Not sure if at 52 yrs and 290 lbs its gonna happen but what the hell... I haven't seen the ski yet as it delivered to the lake...
Agreed that is the only thing that makes sense that there is no water flow through the manifold either via the supply to bottom of manifold or supply to riser is keeping water from entering the manifold.
Can you wiggle the yoke side to side ? That’s what I could not tell in video ? If there is play there , not backlash you have an issue with the bearings
First thought is maybe the pump is sucking air on suction side and doesn’t flow til impeller is moving more. those temps are on the warm side especially the 180. Since you paid for the work I would discuss with the mechanic. Check hose clamps are ok and tight
Can’t tell from the video if it is backlash in the gears or if it is play. Some backlash in gears is normal. With top cover removed the vertical driveshaft will move as top cover locates the upper bearing. With cover off there is only one bearing on bottom so movement is expected
Picture and video posting isn’t working at moment post on YouTube or other file sharing site then put link here. Yoke should have no play in it. Did the nut holding the driveshaft in get loose ? Should have an azz load of torque on it
U joints can be hard to diagnose I just changed mine they...
