I ordered a coil for my carbureted TB5 MC Chevy V8. The ad read that it was for either ignition system for V8s and HEI. However, after examining the new coil, the positive side had 15 vt. listed. I am currently reading 12.25 volts coming from my ignition wire. I have always had 12 volts listed on previous coils. I suspect that it doesn't matter, but I am curious if maybe vendor sent me the wrong coil. I have not tested. Any opinions would be appreciated.

12 v is correct for TB ignition supply to coil + . I suspect that is a max input voltage but have never seen that before either

I went through this same issue trying to match up specs, none of the replacements I could find were confirmed to be correct. I ended up using the MSD #8222 with my TB5. Came recommended by a few different folks. Works great so far, and was cheaper than a mystery coil.
