    Winch Strap longevity

The synthetic type of rope is really nice to use. I personally haven’t bought it but have used it a few times on customers boats. It’s strong and wear resistant. Wish knew the brand but I don’t.

    Question about battery post connections

I hate those things. It's just another connection for corrosion. Easy enough to change the cable ends to the proper clamp.

    Trim Ram End Cap Replacement

Always wrap a towel over the end of whatever you are pushing out with air. Whether it be a ram, brake puck or valve of sorts.

    Outdrive corrosion?

Yup, my phone didn’t show it to well.

    Outdrive corrosion?

I'm not seeing the anodes in the pic. And the rusty cotter pin on the prop should be stainless.

    Question about battery post connections

Yeah, all the new batteries we get now are nuts only. Even the smaller batteries. A few years ago they came with wing nuts.

    Question about battery post connections

On a small boat, wing nuts may work ok, but I’ve seen/worked on several boats with more than three 8-d batteries with wing nuts. The amperage running through those type of connections can heat up rather quickly. That is why ABYC don’t allow them anymore, including smaller batteries. And no more...

    Question about battery post connections

Yeah, no wing nuts and preferably by lock nuts. Don’t gorilla them so tight. Just a bit after snug.

    Modern Engine Thoughts

Looks like we are at a standstill. Let’s just say that it’s all about a persons individual preference. Like 2 strokes? Get one. Like 4 strokes? Get one. I’m 60-70% 2 stroke, 30-40% 4 stroke myself, in other words, I’m on the fence a bit. Time will tell me when I have to make a decision.

Fitting my Bunks to my boat

Pictures please. In my opinion, all the bunks should touch the hull, the shorter ones can be trimmed to fit or moved to where they need to be.

    Leak in transom area

I didn't remove bottom piece that holds the lines as I don't have a gasket but it looked fine. It would not be gushing out like the video via gasket. Just because it looks fine from the outside don't mean its good. Thats like saying my carb looks fine so it must be good. Mine leaked from the...

    Modern Engine Thoughts

Not real sure, more likely sensors and stuff for monitoring the fuel, as it's injected not carburetor. Modern 4 strokes are injected for the most part nowadays also. Thats why I sent him to a dealer. I'm sort of old school, and dont want to invest in the diagnostic equipment.

    Modern Engine Thoughts

The 4 strokes are good, just heavier. The neighbors pontoon has an e-tech, well, they are poor about maintaining things, they left the vent cap loose on the fuel tank and it got loaded with water from the rain. I flushed the system twice, but it still runs like crap. I think a sensor went bad or...

    Lubricating Horn Air Compressor

3-1 will varnish up also. I've used it and it actually does that. I use gun oil or sewing machine oil in most all small electric motors, no issues. I see a fan on the curb that someone is tossing away, grab it, clean it up and add a few drops of said oil on the bearings, viola! back to life. I...

    Yamaha sterndrive 3.0 problem

Just a guess, possibly the starter stayed engaged, burning it up. Pull the starter and check it over, you can bring it to a local parts store and have it tested. Have a look at the flywheel gear teeth and see if they are chewed up also. Also, if you replace the starter, make sure it's a marine...
