MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

The older manual 3 goes into cleaning the heat exchanger, says it should be done every two years. and also mentions the 4" exchanger on the following page. You should be good as far as connections go, you may have to fabricate two new brackets to accommodate the larger diameter if the 4"...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Man now I really like you... Lol didn't know you were working on a 470. 😂 After 7 or 8 minutes already running warm sounds like a sticking thermostat or maybe the wrong temp one, or off gauge like Mike mentioned. Mine runs at 160 all day long. I also have one of those Mr gasket thermocaps...

Joining Upper and Lower Housings, Can't Turn Driveshaft...

If it spun for you before the impeller, there's nothing I could think of at this point your at that could have screwed anything up. If you put the prop back on you should be able to spin that vertical shaft by Turing the prop while the lower is in gear. It will still be tough because of that new...

Here is a link to his video for the impeller but the link will take you to the end of the video when he talks about the shift shaft and locking the prop in gear:

Yes, when you bolt the drive back to the bellhousing on the boat, the shifter has to be in forward gear also. Let us know how you make out. Don't forget to grease the ujoints and gimbal bearing, and you should check the alignment with an alignment tool before bolting it back up. Here is a list...

I believe your in neutral. Don't sweat it. The lower half shifts into forward, neutral and reverse by turning the lower shift shaft I have circled. Clockwise on the splined shaft while turning the prop CCW will put the drive in forward gear, it will lock. Turning the splined shaft CCW while...

You know about holding it in forward when you bolt the two drive halves back together, and don't forget to change to quad Oring between the drive halves on the starboard side of the drive.

    Mercruiser 170 timing

The factory Mercruiser manual #8 doesn't mention timing adjustments for elevation. It mentions prop change only.

Positive wiring to coil gets too hot. Almost solved. Just need more info.

It has a module, so like a points conversion kit. If you have it wired like your diagram in Post 1, it is not correct. Both the (+) terminal of the coil, and the red wire to the module, get powered through the resistance wire or ballast resistor. Your diagram shows the red wire on the...

I've never seen any timing adjustments for the 470 in relation to elevation. The spec is 4°

    Lower control cable question

Yes the interrupter only works in water, and out of gear into neutral.

    Bayliner 175 Rehab

Did you do a compression test on the motor before you yanked it. You could be ripping apart a perfectly sound engine, you could find other ways to put money in the boat if the engine just needs a tune up or carb clean.

Dies when throttling up from idle after warm up/ 89 merc 3.7 2bbl

Did you check timing after changing dwell? When you move the points, the timing also changes. Do you have a temp gauge to confirm your engine temp? You should, these 470/3.7 motors don't like to overheat. What's your voltage while running, on the (+) side of the coil. It should not be 12...

    My boat sank, part II

How about some rollers under the keel? Maybe some 3" or 4" diameter pieces of PVC pipe a few fee long each. The PVC should help it slide nice. Is the bow facing land or water? Did we just have a moon tide recently? That may also have contributed to the shorter high tides now, aside from the...

Drive Rebuilder Can't get parts, since November, May get Alpha for L6's

You already have two short length shafts you can take off the MC-1's and slap them on the newer Alpha One, unless you don't think your getting your drives back from him? What parts are you waiting on?
