    Missing drive oil bottle ???

Probably doesn't matter much, but the mercruiser manual is pretty specific, lower unit should be tilted up to the top of the trim stop, not flat.

    Trailer Brakes or Not

The one drawback to electric is that you have another battery to maintain/replace. (haven't kept up with tech but so there might be a supercapacitor batteryless system out there)

Hook up boat engine to permanent magnet generator.

In a perfect world, EV's charge at home in non-peak hours, and can contribute to the grid if needed during peak times.

To Keep/Repair or Junk it? 1985 Bayliner Capri 1400

Yeah, not even close to worth putting in the cash and countless hours to get that on the water safely. Honestly I have never seen/heard of a Searay outboard. The cowl looks somewhat like a merc, maybe... If so, at least you can sell that off and make your money back. If it is the common...

If you can't find a trailer scale where you are located....

lots of these around. All you need to do is download the app and pay $12. But yeah looking at their map, none on Long Island https://catscale.com/cat-scale-locator/map/

Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

How often do you need to use it? other option is one of those coolers-filled-with-ice temporary AC's. They are surprisingly effective, and if you only use it to provide a little cool air before bed, it should work well. Your nighttime temps are very likely below 70F even in July/August.

    Remote Controlled Blower

Just don't mount it in the engine bay. Stuff it up under the dash, and just T into the existing wires for the blower switch.

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

That was pretty much my exact reason for starting the thread! The boating season here in ND is really short, so had to take advantage of my chance to visit the boat in the middle of winter. Frozen RV antifreeze was a nice side bonus!

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

Checked on on my summer place today, and happened to notice out of the corner of my eye that the jugs of -75 RV antifreeze were all sitting on the floor at an angle like there was something under them. Turns out, RV antifreeze does a pretty good impression of a solid. It definitely expanded...

Need help deciding!! Wakeboard boat vs bow rider!?!

Completely different use cases. Wakeboats are very good at towing, but you have to live with the drawbacks. (inboard engine/drive, poor slow speed maneuverability, deep draught) And yes, wakeboats don't ride as nice as a deeper V, but they aren't entirely bad either. You mentioned inland...

Proper air pressure for PWC trailer

You will probably get a slew of answers saying run max PSI, but that is very likely pushing the tire outside its operating envelope for a light load. If the trailer is lightly loaded, it wears the center of the tire prematurely and you have very little traction. With any luck, you can find...

    Boat slow after cleaning

Technically wax below the water line is going to be SLIGHTLY slower, but... Nothing you would ever notice on that boat. Based on your comment about it pushing water, check where the motor is trimmed at. If you had a bilge full of water, it would probably be riding bow high.

Engine smell in cabin when boat is tarped for the week (350 i/o)

Might not be the engine compartment even. EVERY single thing I've ever tarped up ends up with a 'tarp' smell of some sort. Both canvas or plastic tarps have their own smell, and any non-plastic tarp is going to absorb odors over its life.

    Electric Boats

To many things to pick apart in there, but here is one thing that is fundamentally wrong... He flashed blue again. “Einstein’s formula, E=MC2, tells us it takes the same amount of energy to move a five thousand pound gasoline-driven automobile a mile as it does an electric one. The only...

Anyone use a 2017 kia Sorrento AWD/4wd high output engine?

Too bad the OP hasn't been back... In any case, my Kia Borrego is my tow mule! It rarely moves without something behind it. The borrego is a little bigger (and also fully body-on-frame) than a sorrento though, but it tows my boat which is probably around 5000# well. Mileage is absolutely...

    Mercruiser 3.0 Fuel Issues

If it is full and then empties, it is either coming in through a leak, or a faulty one-way. (not all leaks will leak fuel, it is entirely possible to only leak air in, and not fuel out) Also, what type of filter? Not all filters are certified for use on an inboard, and it could be a fire risk.

    Is my fuel pump dead?

I went through the same thing this spring. It sounds very much like a bad oil pressure switch. You can temporarily bypass it with a couple inches of wire with flat spade connectors on each end. The replacement for it is a newer design that presumably won't fail as easy.

okay out of the box idea guys, let's get crazy

You got the wrong boat... It isn't going to work, period. Even an inboard might be a challenge, as the draft is still pretty low.

Alpha Gen 2 Trim Bushings are outrageous!

Could just buy a 3d printer... About $500 for a printer, $.20 in filament, and a couple hours time to design/print it. Or just pay $48!

    I/O Characteristics

Not much love for I/O's here, but I still prefer them! I've owned various outboards, including a new EFI 4 stroke, and still like I/O's. Maintenance isn't that bad, it takes me all of 3 minutes to pull the plugs. Changing the oil is really easy, remote drain just pulls out of the bilge drain...
