What is the voltage going into the ECM before and during starting, that is, what is its power supply level?

Fuel Fill Line Routing - Good or Bad Idea

Looks like I have room to run the steering and engine cables later after I put in the fuel fill line. I am planning to run it and the vent line inside of ABS pipe in case it ever needs to be changed later. Any problem with ABS pipe under the deck?

Fuel Fill Line Routing - Good or Bad Idea

Thanks for the thoughts. Before I move it, I guess I need to check to see how much room I have as the steering cable and engine wire cables have to run inside the top of the gunwale past the proposed new point.

Fuel Fill Line Routing - Good or Bad Idea

I am getting ready to close in the floor on the starboard side so I need to route the fuel fill and tank vent line under the new floor deck. The original design has the fuel line coming under the helm and making a turn to the front of the galley (4 feet) and then up the wall to the gunwale fill...

    Laying the Deck Questions

Thanks for the thoughts. The fuel pickup is in the rear (kind of hard to see the fitting in the picture). As to the fuel fill, I had the new tank built the same as the original design which had the fuel fill amidships on the starboard side.

    Laying the Deck Questions

Got more floatation foam in and filled the other large cavity so now on to finishing the stringers in the front. That means routing the hoses and wiring for the gas tank and the water tank. The water tank is on the port side and wires run over the front of the gas tank to the starboard side...

1990 Four Winns 190 Freedom Deck Questions

Here is my thread on putting down a new deck. I am following the advice of others and using PB and stainless steel #8 screws to secure the deck to plywood stringers. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/laying-the-deck-questions.751756/

1990 Four Winns 190 Freedom Deck Questions

Plan for the worst. You may find that when you pull up the deck, pieces of the stringers will come out with it depending upon how it was originally secured. If the deck is rotted, then you likely have water into the floatation foam and that would need to be replaced. If you have to replace...

    Laying the Deck Questions

Thanks. On the big chamber on the right of the picture across from the one I still need to do, the foam didn't seem to fill evenly and I had to drill the extra hole in the middle between the ones on the ends. I had to add more foam through that hole to fill in around the gaps that didn't fill...

    Laying the Deck Questions

Worked on the front of the floor area but ran out of urethane foam to fill the large chamber on the left in the picture. I either miscalculated or didn't get the full expansion I expected. I went ahead and installed the plugs where I had the foam in place. I used the 16lb kit of 2lb density...

    Laying the Deck Questions

With the second heater running, the rear most chambers got up near 80 degrees and the humidity dropped to 60%. So I got the back half of the two outside 8 foot chambers and the two 42 inch chambers on each side of the engine bay. Evening was setting in with temp outside dropping and humidity...

    Laying the Deck Questions

Heat gun is a great idea so will add that to the arsenal of tools. I have a small heat pump but it can't get the shop temp high enough (big 3 bay shop) however the output blows right into the back of the boat from above on the wall. I ran a 1500 watt electric heater blowing underneath the...

    Laying the Deck Questions

The two chambers to the outside are 96 inches long. The bigger chambers are shorter and divided by the bulkhead. Each of those chambers have two holes. I think I will start with the outside chambers first to see how it goes. I saw one video where the guy drilled 3/8 inch vent holes. Not...

    Laying the Deck Questions

Finally got the back half of the deck down and now ready for pour foam. I have my shop heating but don't think I can get it to 80 degrees in there. Anyway, what angle do you typically need to tilt the bow up to flow the pour foam to fill to the back? Max distance from hole to hole front to...

Alpha 1 gen 1 lower unit seal kit?

achris has a very good point and a pressure test is really warranted. Even if you replace all the seals you will want to pressure test the new seals. Given the picture of the prop shaft seal, you may need to replace multiple seals.

Alpha 1 gen 1 lower unit seal kit?

I used the same method at Johnkom to get mine out. Careful with the heat, aluminum has a low melting point. Use repeated cycles of heat and cold.

Alpha 1 gen 1 lower unit seal kit?

It might be your prop shaft seals (most likely) or prop shaft bearing carrier seal. I would pull the prop shaft bearing carrier and replace all the seals. Try this video to see if it helps. Its for a Gen 2 but similar to Gen 1. I do have the lower unit rebuild video's but a bit of overkill...

How to Switch to Antifreeze Cooled Engine

Based upon my experience, most 350's in good condition run from 125lbs to 155lbs. Depends upon the engine and its age. High end is usually on fresh builds. They should all be pretty close to the same compression. If one or two are really low, that would indicate something going bad. On the...

How to Switch to Antifreeze Cooled Engine

Yes, the old OMC stringer drives used an electric motor and gear to raise and lower. Alpha's use hydraulic ram pistons to raise and lower. Keep in mind that exhaust elbows typically come in either 7 degree or 14 degree down angle so consider that along with my earlier comment on the exhaust...
