Alpha 1 gen 1 lower unit seal kit?

I have oil leaking from prop. What and where do i reseal the lower unit tried finding videos and have not found any?

It might be your prop shaft seals (most likely) or prop shaft bearing carrier seal. I would pull the prop shaft bearing carrier and replace all the seals.

Try this video to see if it helps. Its for a Gen 2 but similar to Gen 1. I do have the lower unit rebuild video's but a bit of overkill for just replacing the seals.

I need to pull this bearing carrier out but not sure i want to spend 200 on a pull you guys have any ideas on a puller i could use locally

Plus a little heat.

Heat the outside? Both ends of carrier? All i have is a little propane torch. Im letting it soak in some penitrator.

I used the same method at Johnkom to get mine out. Careful with the heat, aluminum has a low melting point. Use repeated cycles of heat and cold.

LEAST likely!

Before you go throwing money at the lower housing, oil from the prop might be from the seals at the bottom of the top housing, or it might be the shift shaft seal. Personally, I have replaced about 20 shift shaft seals for every propshaft seal that's leaked.

Do a pressure test and find out where the leak is.... Blindly just replacing seals until it stops leaking is frankly, not clever!

achris has a very good point and a pressure test is really warranted. Even if you replace all the seals you will want to pressure test the new seals. Given the picture of the prop shaft seal, you may need to replace multiple seals.

It may very well be just the prop shaft seal. From appearances something wrapped around the shaft and burned the seal up. Pressure test time to prove the theory.

That's just the lip of the water seal. The oil seal behind it is probably not where your oil leak is coming from.

Seal. There's only the one. Use the special tool and remove the shift shaft bushing, and replace the complete bushing (it comes with the seal in it).
