    14mph speed

I would add a few more factors. First would be the condition of the logs. If they're all crudded up, that's a lot of drag. Another big deal - weight, especially if misplaced. (too much on front, or rear). Doesn't take a lot. What about the prop condition? Trim angle? Best case, in my experience...

    Scissors lift question

The trailer is supporting the weight of the boat via all of the cross members (not the deck). That's a lot of support. Missing the first and/or second cross members isn't much of a deal - especially as the front of the boat weighs very little.

    Scissors lift question

I believe a lot of how you position the boat on the trailer is about tongue weight. If you want those stops in front of the boat, put them there and see if there's enough tongue weight. If not, have a look at how your axle/spring assemblies fasten to the trailer frame. Some are adjustable, some...

    Replace plywood decking on pontoon

I think many will agree it's nearly impossible to seal a wood surface 100% and have it stay that way it's entire life. When water does make it's way in, the sealer (or whatever) holds it there. So there's that idea, and taken one step further, decks built using marine plywood will generally go...

Descaling flush, motor that stops peeing

Matt, my experience would indicate it's sand build up (or something that looks like sand), not anything real solid. I've had some trouble with those fittings too. A deep well socket will generally convince them they should come out of there. I would say I've never broken one, but that's when...

Spray or roller for Wellwood carpet adhesive

My vote- short nap roller w/extras on hand in case the first one comes apart (they do that!). I would NOT spray. You'll be dinking around trying to figure out how to get it to flow properly and when/if you get that figured out, I'll be all done - without worrying about how I'm going to clean...

Needing help 1993 40hp Mercury higher rpm issues

Very difficult to see much due to the reflections, but I don't see anything jumping out at me as far as glaring errors. Motor height looks fine. I am left wondering though regarding the function of that chain and float. What is that used for? Have you had anyone local look at this? Maybe a...

Descaling flush, motor that stops peeing

Matt, have you tried removing the fitting on the side of the block? That allows for a much larger opening, and higher flow rate. Water will really come blasting out of it if everything else is in good condition. It's not hard to remove using a deep well socket. -Al

Descaling flush, motor that stops peeing

Sorry. Above written pre-coffee. The water from the pipe enters this part top RIGHT, not top left as I noted above. Al

    Water splashing over transom

I'm not a big fan of patches, which is what a "jack plate" would be if installed to lift a long shaft motor installed on a short shaft boat, especially when talking about something the size of this boat. Jack plates enable an incredible ability to run in shallow water and are very popular used...

Descaling flush, motor that stops peeing

You have it Matt. The pipe coming up from the pump bolts to/supplies water to the other side of this part, and enters the engine/block in the top left part of this picture. This actually illustrates fairly well a point I like to make on occasion, that the water exiting the pee port is actually...

Raised deck railing here as well. MUCH easier keep the floor clear of "stuff". Excellent plan!

    Speed/HP boost for towing kiddos

I think this call may be about your tube size. If they are big enough to hold a heavier 90-115 (25"+) then that's likely a good plan. A motor like that should give you enough authority to entertain the kids. OR Maybe consider a deck boat in your future. One with a 4 stroke outboard. They'll...

Pontoon boat vs. Open Deck for Lake - Total newbie

Some of the offshore center consoles "fishing boats" are pretty insane as well. 4 motors? I think they take the prize.... until you start talking yachts.

Pontoon boat vs. Open Deck for Lake - Total newbie

I live on an inland lake and have been a huge fan of pontoon boats most of my life. We have a 24' boat with a 90 Honda 4 stroke on it. We can idle nearly silently all day, and pull the kids on a tube easily. Recently, I've become exposed to having access to the Gulf of Mexico - big water...

Can a 2020 CRV AWD tow a Crestliner 1650 SE WT

Similar scenario, but I was driving a 36' Class A Motor Home while pulling a CRV (equipped w/brakes). Seems to me that would be just about as relevant. NOT!

Should a fuel injected Honda 90 be able to stay running with a bad/dead battery

I would think it should? The issue may have been that battery sucking so much of the available charge power that it managed to lower what was available to the ECU where it shut down. I would find out if your battery is any good first. Run some tests on that. Once you get a fully charged known...
