    Installing Rectifier / 9.8 Nissan NSF9.8A2

All due respect Paul, but if those manuals were handy, I doubt there would be any question here. If it continues to be an issue, I'm in total agreement with you. Go get a manual! -Al

Anyone use a 2017 kia Sorrento AWD/4wd high output engine?

    Well said (within reason anyway).

    99 Johnson 50hp 2cyl? Any good?

Not on my radar of potential problems. Maybe just lucky or maybe this is just a salt water issue?

Anyone use a 2017 kia Sorrento AWD/4wd high output engine?

Some people worry so much about potential problems they never leave the house....

Honda BF15 15HP outboard dies at full throttle

Glad you found the issue, and thanks much for getting back with us so that all can possibly learn something from your experience. -Al

    99 Johnson 50hp 2cyl? Any good?

OMC fan here too, unless there's a 4 stroke available..... I like the twins because they just flat work on fishing and pontoon boats. Owners love them and they last forever with a minimum amount of maintenance. The 3 cylinder motors though, if they're right on those same fishing and pontoon...

    Installing Rectifier / 9.8 Nissan NSF9.8A2

Not clear if you are replacing an existing rectifier, or trying to come up with a charging system knowing that it will need a rectifier? On the systems I'm familiar with, if you look under the flywheel there will be 3 coils. 1 small one for firing the ignition, and 2 larger coils whose leads...

Maybe the parts manual would provide a hint?

Honda BF15 15HP outboard dies at full throttle

That might point to a partially/mostly plugged fuel filter.

Honda BF15 15HP outboard dies at full throttle

My bet is that it's running out of fuel when it needs anything over a just trickle. It can't get the necessary fuel flow rate to run beyond a certain throttle setting. Usual suspects, in no order- Fuel line sucking air - could be loose at either end (look for fuel stains), or the pick up tube...

Reused my Shrinkwrap for 3rd time

So it's not just me, but mine may not be at such a grand scale. Mine is covering a 24' pontoon boat. I actually planned on using it over again, but was pleasantly surprised when I found it still in pretty good condition at the end of the second season. So I used it again for the 3rd! Not sure...

    I/O Characteristics

I do a LOT of work on mid size Honda outboards (40-90hp) bringing them back from the dead. Seized, water in oil, blown lowers, whatever. At 70 years old now, I am WAY beyond handling some of the stuff handled 40-50 years ago easily. I can set an outboard on a work stand in front of me, pull up a...

2016 Alumacraft transom rotted completely out.

I had to do a 99 17' Polarcraft a couple of years back. Of course there were few rivets as they are an "all welded" boat. I cut as necessary (angle grinder) to reveal the dust that used to be plywood, dug all of that crap out, then laminated a couple different thickness of ply pieces together...

    99 Johnson 50hp 2cyl? Any good?

The '99 50 is a great motor that will do anything a 50 should do. MANY have had the VRO (oil injection pump) bypassed with a new fuel pump and you mix your gas and oil from then on. MY 50's are all done this way as the VRO pumps are expensive to replace, and the OEM pumps are getting pretty old...

    Saltwater eating my trailers...

There's your problem. I would avoid that type, near impossible to rinse the interior.

    Towing Boat In Cold Temperature

The only concern I would have is being forced to tow on heavily salted roads. If you do have to put your new rig through that, make sure the whole thing, including the trailer, gets a thorough bath/scrub down prior to storing it.

    Best finance options

If married, there's a neat trick if you want to claim 2 places as a primary residence. You and the wife are both entitled to a primary residence if filling "married, filing seperately". One of you files with the house, the other a second house - or boat. Popular move for those with winter and...

Should you buy 20 year old boat to fix up or 10 year old boat?

My Vote- It would be way more about condition than age here. It's about what's going to be involved in the restoration.
