The 40/50/60 twins had weak lower units. If you find one broken more than likely the lower unit is the culprit.
the pre-1989 ones always seem to hold up just fine? The 40/50/60 twins had weak lower units. If you find one broken more than likely the lower unit is the culprit.
Not really you can find a lot of those with missing lower units.the pre-1989 ones always seem to hold up just fine?
Not on my radar of potential problems. Maybe just lucky or maybe this is just a salt water issue? The 40/50/60 twins had weak lower units. If you find one broken more than likely the lower unit is the culprit.
Are you referring to the 2 cyls ? or all .. 3 cyls as well ?Those pre 1989 lower units are also flimsy.------Simple as that.-----Gears and bearings are not robust !!!
Just the 2 cylinder motors had the weaker lower units. Are you referring to the 2 cyls ? or all .. 3 cyls as well ?
Thanks
Cool ... my 87 3cyl 60 appears quite substantial from the outside view.Just the 2 cylinder motors had the weaker lower units.
could the 3cylinder be adapted to the 2 cylinder non commercial? The 2 cylinder lower unit is flimsy.----That is why 2 cylinder " commercial " engines used the 3 cylinder gearcase !!
