New to the site with a question about a 1996 90hp Force

Jerry summed it up pretty well here......if you have water getting in you got a problem that needs repaired......my manual calls for SAE90 so that's what i use, the Quicksilver 90W......and I like the pretty blue color! Lol.

    boat storage

Before dispatching any squirrels it would be a good idea to know your local game laws.....in some areas they are considered game animals with seasons and bag limits......if a nosey neighbor called the game warden you could be looking at stiff penalties/fines if out of season or over the bag...

The 55hp were Chryslers made from 1974-1983 (per marineengine.com). I reckon jerry or nordin could clarify what was different about the Force 50, made from 1984-1999, besides paint color, cowling, and ignition systems used.....

They are fine if maintained properly and not abused too bad.....same as any other motor. Parts availability and doing your own work are things to consider.....With the Force name on it you can probably get one cheap compared to other brands.

Another one was the L-Drive models in 120 HP (1990-1992) and 125 HP (1989). They were supposed to be the best of both worlds (OB and I.O.) but soon became known as the Hell Drive. Lol.

The Force 70 HP (1991-1995) is the one I recall as being a bad design.....it had 3 cylinders and ONE carb.....one or more of the cylinders could run lean due to the one carb design, causing a lot of blown power heads. The other brands put out some lemons over the years too, not just Force.

    Trim motor

Fun Fact: My old 2-wire T&T system doesn't use solenoids or relays......Heavy gauge wire is run directly from battery to a switch on the dash, then 2 heavy gauge wires run from switch to the motor. Old school design that has never failed since new in 1978. (y)

1989 Force 125 water pump torque values

I agree with The Force power.....they probably reduced the torque value because the housing is plastic.....the aluminum housings had 4 bolts and used the 70 in/lb torque. They put the torque values on the plastic pump housing to make sure you don't over torque it.

    Chrysler 75hp, need direction.

I have the 85HP version of your engine, they are basically the same except for output. Had a problem develop where running with engine warmed up and under load, would shut off.....like you turned the key off. Would restart like nothing was wrong....then at high rpms would do it again, over and...

    Chrysler 75hp, need direction.

You have it backwards.....it turns CW when looking down from above. There is a static test you can do for the preamp, but I don't think it has anything to do with your issue......

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

You replaced the trim cylinder, tilt cylinder, and the valve body twice.....and still not working right. All I can think of is those valve bodies are the China clones.....if you still have the original factory VB you could try to repair it using the info in the stickies at the top of this...

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

That tilt cylinder, with the nick in it and that hole you plugged up, makes sense to replace it.....was wondering what kind of VB you replaced that china one with?

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Is this the one with the nick in the cylinder wall? If it is that could be part of the problem and not repairable......once I used a vice to hold the tilt cylinder when taking the cap off, bad mistake. You couldn't tell by looking at it but it deformed it enough where the ram wouldn't...
