1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Not much to it really.....basically, start with engine all the way down....remove cap, top off fluid. With cap off, run engine up/down a few times.....top off, then up/down a few more times. Only add fluid to reservoir when engine is all the way down......put cap back on, done. Is possible...

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Need to get all the air out. It is a self bleeding system....manual says to use SAE 30 Non Detergent oil. What procedure are you using to bleed it? You should not use anything on these nuts or threads......the seal is made by the metal to metal contact of the flared line to the valve body...

    The fall

Sorry to hear about your fall, jerry.....glad nothing got broken. My mom (90 yrs) fell a couple weeks ago....luckily she didn't break anything either, just banged up a bit. Hope you recover fully and can get back to doing the things you like to do! (y)

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Well I think Nordin answered your concern about the water issue.....I was wondering about it myself. Learn something new every day about these motors. The water may be coming in around that leg seal....only ones I could find were some used ones on ebay. Everywhere else was NLA. Your best bet...

Also there are 2 small plastic plugs, #8 in that diagram, at the bottom down there.....if those were missing I am thinking water could come up through those holes?

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Hey Nordin.....the OP says when he lowers his motor down all the way in the water he gets water inside the engine compartment, way down low at the bottom......maybe 2-3 inches of water. Mine does not do that....seems to always be dry down there. Is that normal for his 125 Force and will it...

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Hopefully a new boot will solve your exhaust leak issue. Where is your T&T leaking at? Those fittings have to be pretty snug to keep from leaking. As for the water issue, I have summoned the gurus for input.....lol. @Nordin @The Force power @jerryjerry05 @Jiggz

    Force outboard maintenance

Am not a scientist or a chemist.....but if it smells like regular gas and only 2 months old (non ethanol) then it is probably ok to dilute.....bad gas has a varnish smell to it....

    Random

One of the grossest things ever was the earpiece on a pay phone.....using 2 fingers and holding it away from your ear and trying to talk...lol

    Force outboard maintenance

How many gallons and how old is it? If in doubt you could use a little bit of it at a time when refueling, to get rid of it. But if you know it is stale I wouldn't use it at all....

    Force outboard maintenance

Have heard the same, is probably true......these motors are the old crossflow design and have pistons with big ridges on them. That makes them more susceptible to detonation to begin with, and bad/stale fuel can make it even worse. But if you stay on top of your fuel quality you should be ok...

    Force outboard maintenance

I use 89 octane but either will be fine. Ethanol free (E0) is great if you can find it, is more expensive. E10 is readily available and if you use a good fuel stabilizer will be fine. I use Sta-Bil 360 Marine with every fill up....that way it is always treated in case it sits for a...

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

I don't think it will hurt anything.....maybe Nordin or jerry will chime in with better info on this water issue. Mine is always dry down there so I am not 100% sure. I was assuming the water was leaking from higher up, like from the exhaust boot or something....not rising up from the leg...if...

    Force outboard maintenance

If it's running good is probably ok......they do get stiff and can get holes/tears in the diaphragm......if in doubt, replace it.

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Think I understand what you're talkin about now......there are some little plastic plugs down there in the bottom you can see looking down with the cover off.....if they are missing some water could get in there with the engine down in the water....

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

With motor tilted up some water is trapped in the cooling system....when you lower it the water drains out......put a new boot on it and see if that solves the exhaust and water leak.
