    1980 crest/maurell 25'

I'd say halfway submerged is about right. gives you some room to load up the boat. that tracker is floating low imo, probably a 20footer with a large motor. I suspect someone added that wedge to lower the pod, it might not be original to the boat. my pod is 3-4 inches below the waterline at...

diameter doesn't matter as much as long as it fits. I think mine is around 14.5ish.

    Main fuse

you're going to have to keep looking. I can't see your boat, but my fuse panel is in my helm. so, can you get inside the helm? start working your way back? do you have a "master" switch at the helm?

If it were me, I would pick up a different prop, that small diameter 17p seems like a terrible choice for that boat. do you have a tach? I have a similar size boat and motor and I'm running a four blade, 13p prop that has served me well. as stated, you may be forced to rework your pod and...

with pontoons, you want the motor lower. I'd drop it to the lowest position and see how it behaves. in your second pic, the motor looks too high. what prop are you using?

    9.9 Evinrude

it's going to be slow but will move it. stay on small lakes, a strong wind could make it a challenge.

Need advice on fine tuning a new pontoon (minor cavitation)

no two props are the same. I was running a 4 blade 13p prop for a few years. I hit something, so I switched to a different brand, same specs, and gained 1-2 mph. I've been running the four blade, 13 pitch, now for a long time. I don't buy stainless or fancy expensive props since I boat in...

    4 pontoons

I think the 18'ers are to short. how do you plan to use them? I'd look for a 24 foot tube with a matching or slightly larger diameter of the the outer tubes. mount that even with the front of the outers. that 45 hp will not be enough in the wind. but it will get you on the water.

the black box in your 2nd pic is the tilt relay box. it has a couple relays and a limit switch inside. the tilt motor is below that box. the box should turn on top of the tilt mechanism, but should not move up and down. don't overtighten it.

AQ125 not going beyond 2000 RPM under load

I had concidered going to electronic ignition but ince I got my points and timing adjusted properly, it didn't seem necessary. I still have points. they both work. have you done a compression test?

    VP AQ280 operating instructions

you don't have any trim options. sounds like it might not be the right fit for you. I have issues myself in shallow water. trim up halfway in forward at idle speed only. buy enough props and you learn where not to go.

AQ125 not going beyond 2000 RPM under load

does the motor have the original timing belt, tensioner? if you can't get the timing to adjust correctly, it may need a belt and tensioner. the automotive equivalents are ok to use, and much cheaper. the dwell is the points gap adjustment. the dwell meter gets it right on. once the dwell is...

Need advice on fine tuning a new pontoon (minor cavitation)

I think "way low"is a bit overstated, it looks just past halfway up the toons. it appears you have 20' logs on your 21' boat. I agree that the strakes are lifting you out of the water, which is their purpose...but not very helpful. moving weight shouldn't be necessary but I agree a better...
