    Older Ranger Inboard

those ford's in the 70s where known as the AQ190 for the 302 and AQ240 for the 351. if the block is cracked, causing the water in the oil, then yes, a new block is needed. but it's hard to say what's really wrong without pressure testing and/or tearing down the motor. the heads could have...

    Volvo Penta vs Mercruiser

sure it's an aq100 outdrive? they were obsolete in 1976...doing all this work, I'd look for a newer drive train. cool old boat however, good luck!

    water pressure vs air pressure

Yep. I found that it took about 10psi to move the water in the lines, so charging to 20 moved some water but I had to recharge quite often to clear each line. I'm confident that next year when I charge up to 50psi, it will speed things up, and by hooking my compressor to the expansion tank, I...

    water pressure vs air pressure

thanks for the replies. next year I'll install an air hose fitting so I can attach my compressor, set to 50 psi, to the expansion tank to make the winterizing easier. I'll leave the 120 psi to harringtondav.

    water pressure vs air pressure

I found myself tasked with winterizing a property the other day. it has a well that feeds 3 structures. I found that I could isolate the lines to each building using the different valves built into the plumbing setup. there is an old non-bladder expansion tank that I was charging up to 20 psi...

    Tritoon maybe

I have a 24 footer with a 90hp 2 stroke. I added a third toon and have been happy with the results. I never weighed the third toon but it doesn't weigh that much, maybe 150lbs. my speed stayed the same, no extra drag, perhaps because it raised the front of the boat up 3 inches. it handles...

Volvo 1000530 Cylinder Head Torque Specs

this is from the same manual, but the aq125b the 125a was 2.1ltr the 125b was 2.3 ltr 1983 would most likely be the 125a. if you look by the starter there may be a tag that says what you have

Thinking about an upgrade for the tow vehicle

the V10 ford is not a bad motor if you must look in that 2010 and earlier range. the 6.7 is much better but also newer and more expensive. can't speak on chevy or dodge. good luck!

    Volvo Penta AQ131D getting hot

200 isn't too hot for that engine setup, I think it uses a 195 deg thermo.

    Volvo AQ131D cruising speed

cruising at 4000+ rpm sounds like a waste of gas. unless you're in a hurry. I would cruise at a speed that keeps the boat on plane.

    VP 280 no reverse

to me this is the first thing to check. pull the rear cover and see if the linkage is moving fully in both directions when shifting. did you install the small bracket that holds the shift cable on the front side of the drive?

Volvo penta 260A no spark on 1986 bayliner

that motor has points in the distributor that may need changing. when was the last tune up? when did it run last?

    12v boat hoist motor

I run my lift motor off my boat battery. is that an option?

    Volvo Penta AQ131D getting hot

it may just need a spring or two replaced to bring the lock mech back in place.

    93 vp aq570 with 280 drive hydrolocked??

that motor could be made to work, but the exhaust manifolds won't match up, nor will the merc wiring etc. so you'd end up using half the parts...I'd go scotts route of buying the short or long block and using your parts from the bad motor. personally, I would replace the exhaust manifolds...

VP 280: exhaust water out helmet area

before heading out, I would confirm you are not leaking water into the boat where the idle relief passes through from the ypipe to the transom shield. I never had to remove my y pipe so I don't know how it is sealed. good luck

    Volvo Penta AQ131D getting hot

yes,, that is the foot from the end of the tilt rod. it screws in and has a piece that is supposed to keep it from unscrewing. I would order a new water connection fitting and gasket, that old one is done. the exhaust bellows isn't a priority, it has water in it all the time anyway. I haven't...
