85hp 3 cylinder Force carburetor throttle plates.

At wide open they don't have to be flat. Just at idle.

It's a Force, possibly an L drive?? Find the parts diagram for your motor. Always include the model, year and serial# if possible.

Won’t stay running 125 force pestoline

The reeds are behind the carbs. Remove the carbs and inspect the reeds. A reed is like a clarinets reed that vibrates to make the noise. They allow fuel in but block the fuel so it won't come out. Damaged or missing reeds let fuel come back out the front and can make it backfire. A backfire can...

    Bolt size

They are probably 1/4-20 or the next size bigger. The 1/4-20 can pull out and destroy the hole, be careful.

1989 Force 50 won’t idle after engine warms up

Sounds like the starting fluid test might have found the problem?

    1987 Force 125 tower shaft linkage frozen/seized

The drain plug on the bottom of the drive could be an allen head set screw??? IT'S VERY EASY TO STRIP!!! Hard to find sometimes. If it doesn't come easy? you can use a propane torch and heat the area around the plug. The heat won't hurt any thing unless you really get it hot (not likely) If it's...

1989 Force 50 won’t idle after engine warms up

Do the starting fluid test: start the motor, spray SF around the intake side of the engine. If that makes the motor run different?? Then it's sucking air and needs to figure out where? You have 2 port covers on the intake side. One has the fuel pump the other nothing. Most time the port caver...

    1987 Force 125 tower shaft linkage frozen/seized

I've never ran across frozen towershaft linkage. Keep taking it apart and see if you can find the problem. Do a compression test and check the lower unit for water.

    1998 Force 120 Impeller Kit

IF??? you have water in the oil, you need to do a pressure test to find the weak link. Then fix that, then replace the impeller. Your pump has a stainless cup and wear plate and usually the impeller is all that's needed.

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

If it's idling ok?? Then why adjust the air screws? Doing the test with starting fluid will insure the air screws are set right. Setting the screws: turn in till they bottom out(GENTLY) then out 1 and 1/8th turn. If the motor idles good then ??? Leave it there. Test: Run the motor at wide open...

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

750-800 in gear. Trouble setting idle: start the motor, spray starting fluid around the intake side of the motor. Under the coils/packs and the base of the carbs. If that makes a difference? then it's sucking air and the gaskets need to be replaced.

    1984 125 force outboard

The dog just slides back and forth. The shift rod that goes through the front of the drive can get stuck or sticky because of corrosion and crud build up. Lube the shift rod and pull up and down all the while turning the prop shaft.

IF??? you have a solid needle??? you have to have an o-ring in the seat. Look close??

    So close =]

The Force carbs/seats came 2 ways. #1 came with a solid seat and a needle with a rubber tip. #2 came with a solid needle and a seat with a rubber o-ring in the seat. #1 the rubber tip can deform and cause a leak. #2 certain solvents and additives can swell the rubber and plastics shutting off...

    1984 125 force outboard

Unhook the shift cables(yes both) then try shifting by hand. You'll need to spin the prop as you try to shift. Without spinning the gears and linkage can bind and cause hard shifting.

    1999 Force/Merc 75HP 3 Cylinder 2-Stoke Rough Running Issues

Pinch off the hose going to the primer after it's started. Then spray starting fluid around the intake side of the motor, this includes the carb bases and all around the intake side of the motor. If that makes a difference?? Tour sucking air and need a gasket or two.
