    1996 Force 120 overheat question

That kit would work. The best bet is buy products that say Mercury/Force on the package. China has made so much junk, you never know what your getting. Measure the temp next to the plug on the head and along the pistons travel or side of the cylinders. Hit a bunch of places and record the results.

    1996 Force 120 overheat question

Most of the water/exhaust comes out the prop, you won't see it as you run. Get a temp gun under $20 that way you'll know what the temp really is.

    150 hp lower unit replacement

Fix it. The leak's only gonna get worse. The numbers on top the case are for getting the right gear set. Someone was sharing a sheet with the gear sets and the way they were replaced. I had it but someone wanted it more than I did :( I think(memory sucks) that if it says 4 you order the set #4...

1984 force 125 back fire now wont run?

Backfiring is a sign of the motor sucking air. I can see in the pic why the comp is low. Normal comp is 145-160 Look at the gauge, it says Pittsburgh(harbor freight) cheap tools give faulty readings. The good news is all 4 are close to each other. Now back to the backfire: most outboards don't...

1984 force 125 back fire now wont run?

Compression test? all should be close to each other. Backfire: one backfire or cough even stutter can blow the port cover gaskets, causing the motor to suck air. Slow turning: bad connection on the battery or starter or cables? The starter can be bad/dirty. A new Chinese starter can be bad...

1965 west bend 450 45hp turning over issues.

Jumping the starter isn't the way to do it. Use the key. Hook the battery and cables up and see if that makes it work right.

1965 west bend 450 45hp turning over issues.

Low compression on one or more cylinders can cause hard turning. Bad bearings in the block and lower unit can also cause the problem. Pull spark plugs and see if that makes a difference??? Drop the lower unit and see if that helps???

Rough operation of timing advance rod or is this normal?

It could probably use some lubrication on the parts that slide??? One of my favorites is Spray White Lithium Grease. I use 4-5 cans a year.

1984 force 125 spark issue again?

In almost 40 years I have only seen 1-2 coils gone bad. All 4?? I seriously doubt it. That year they used a kill switch on the dash, check it out.

    1999 Force/Merc 75HP 3 Cylinder 2-Stoke Rough Running Issues

That motor is still mostly FORCE. Might have some MERCURY parts(ignition) but still mostly Force. The stalling and puff of smoke makes me believe the 3 port cover gaskets are damaged and sucking air and causing the poor running and smoke etc. If you can get it running? spray starting fluid...

Force clamp screw bolt thread size?

If you look at the pics???? You'll see there is no regular head, it's been modified to accept the handle. Some are cut down to fit a 1/2" socket. Also it's a fine thread, 1/2X 16 is too thick, that's why its a 24 or close to that.

Force clamp screw bolt thread size?

I think it's: 1/2x 24 Got a Granger store or a hardware store? they can help with the size..

Undo the fuel line at the pump, glass container, pump the ball and catch the gas in the glass container. Any water?? Maybe the last fill up was contaminated??

    150 hp lower unit replacement

After the early 90's all the gear ratio's were the same. You have to look up the parts diagrams(like I did) and find when they standardized the ratio's.

    Force twin120hp Slow Cranking

Compression test? It's odd that BOTH motors turn slow. Test the batteries? Check the cables for bad spots and loose connections, battery switch could be going bad?
