    I used both a 4.5" grinder and a full sized grinder. The full sized grinder was just too heavy for prolonged use, especially when contorting to reach all the corners of the transom.     Bunk Boards or Guide Poles?

    The guidepoles are mostly helpful for locating the end of the trailer. If your boat gets blown into them, they will bend. If you're looking for something to help guide your boat onto the trailer in windy or swift current conditions, I'd go with side guides.

    I was able to wear them several times. After grinding fiberglass, I'd blow off the suit with an air gun while I was still suited up, and then I was able to reuse the suits several times.     Smart tabs.

    Smart Tabs cured porpoising and chine-walking on my boat. They also helped quite a bit with bow rise on holeshot and they allow me to stay on plane at speeds 3-5 mph slower. True trim rabs would doubtess give you more control and adjustability, but SmartTabs might help in your situation.

    Ski lockers are great for storing fenders, an oar, etc. Be a shame to lose it... as others have said, storage on a boat is precious space.

    Biggest thing I'd be concerned about is a situation where you have to stop quickly (e.g., kid on a bike darting in front of you); that could be a problem. Otherwise, for that short of a trip you should be OK.

    I think in Wisconsin, trailers don't have to be titled if the boat+trailer is 3000 pounds or less. I live in Illinois and I almost bought a WI boat when first looking for one, and the non-titled trailer caused me to look elsewhere. (That, plus the fact that there were issues with the boat.)

    Need to add trailer brakes

    I would add that if one is to get drum brakes, the Nevr-Adjust type are particularly nice. No adjustment needed as the break shoes wear.

    Seems like it would be a lot easier and stronger if you just laid new fiberglass, rather than reusing the old piece.

    If not boating in saltwater, adding electric brakes would be a snap. A number of online trailer vendors sell complete kits that would make adding electric brakes quite easy. You have the square mounting brackets, so it would be a pretty simple bolt-on procedure.
