Not trying to be critical, but I don't think you are putting enough resin on that FG and pressing out all the air. It should be all like those transparent parts in your picture, those white parts have a lot of air still in the glass.

Any suggestions on gluing the outside fiberglass to the new transom plywood

are you trying to use the old skin?

you should be laminating over the plywood and fairing.

Plan b...fair and glass new wood to 1/4 inch. Use old skin I re glassed on the inside of transom. What's your thoughts

I would say forget the old glass and put new inside and out. That would be strongest and most water tight.

How would it not be water tight with my original idea of reinstalling the glass I cut out. Then glass it in and gel coat

To get strength, you will need to bevel grind back about 6" on both sides of the cut.

Overlapping the tabbing on each layer of 1708.

Then grind off the gel off the whole transom, and about a foot forward of the transom on the sides and bottom. Followed by another layer of 1708, then fair smooth and flat.

Lastly, gel the transom and sides

Your plywood should match the transom shape and go corner to corner. You need it flat (no bevel)

If you want to reuse the glass, you have to bevel both of the edges of the cut back.

It's less work to just bevel the boat side and lay the fiberglass on the wood

The only reason I wanted to use the old glass is I reglassed both side with 2 coats and it's pricey for the materials but if it's better and easier to not use it I wont

Seems like it would be a lot easier and stronger if you just laid new fiberglass, rather than reusing the old piece.
