    1975 oday 22

The question of experience wasn't about ability ... it was about understanding Murphy's Law at sea. Lines get themselves all over the place sometimes; doesn't matter your experience level. Experience just tells you that it happens more than you'd expect. Every boat sails a little different, and...

    projects other than boats

Love the project Scott: really amped to see it done. Mine is no where near as exciting, but I've been chugging away at a '92 Fox Body Convertible. We're on the road, nothing exciting (2.3l) but I'm working on getting it re-worked as a nice daily driver and road car:

    1975 oday 22

@1975oday22 do you know how / have experience sailing? And a sloop this size? (I don't remember seeing that anywhere, so flashback and racerone may have a point)

    1975 oday 22

The mainsheet should typically be behind the companion way, but I agree - good chance it'll get hung up on something. The one day you need to drop the main fast, the halyard (<== EDIT: oops) will be hung up on it for some dumb reason. Any way you can rig the horns to the underside of the bow...

    What model is my boat.?

If you go to Bayliner's website, click on RESOURCES in the top menu. Then click on OWNER'S CORNER. There will be a drop down menu to select the year you want to look at - and then all of the brochures for that year are available to download. You should be alble to determine the model from that...

1982 omc stern drive wont go up or down

I would remove the motor, and remove the hammer coupler. Then use a hand tool to turn the worm gear. see if the drive moves up and down like it's supposed to. If that works, then I'd install the new motor.

any tire preference for vans at the boat ramp?

I drove an E150 for years towing my Bayliner. That's around 2,700#. I had a heavy duty suspension on it, so the tires were load rated for that. But I think I ran Toyos and Firestones on it over the years. I never had an issue pulling the boat out on any ramps here in Tennessee.

1982 omc stern drive wont go up or down

Double check that the teeth of the quadrant gear (outside of the intermediate housing) is in the proper place. They can (very occasionally) get jammed up. If you can easily take the motor off and put a screwdriver tip on the worm gear (not the hammer coupling) turn that by hand and see if the...

Just a fun day at the range, I hadn’t been in a few years. I’ll never make that mistake again.

Jim, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know people up in that area, but nothing more than minor damage to folks I know. I'm involved with one of the organizations doing relief work, and know a couple of other groups that are working. Tough time of year for that to happen to people. If there is a...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Every now and again we would get caught out in crumby weather in one of our old bowriders. We had the full canvas for it, but not visibility like that. Looks really sharp AD.

    Tennessee

Yes, thank you! My company Christmas party was last night - I actually didn't know what was going on until we were all there. Where I am, it was gloomy all day. Then it did rain at night, but nothing too severe. We had a warning in this county - so there was a rotation here in town - but we...

Just a fun day at the range, I hadn’t been in a few years. I’ll never make that mistake again.

^^^ LOL ... I wish. In the city, they seem to get a little wound up when you practice in the back yard. But we have a few nice indoor ranges locally (pricey, but nice in the winter) and a few outdoor ranges. Honestly the TWRA range about a half hour away is one of my favorite places...

Can anyone identify the type of boat in this painting?

That boat would be a junk. That's the type of rig for the sail, and a lorcha would have a different hull (it's a junk rig too). The "poopdeck" (not sure what they call them on a junk) is overhanging the rudder on that ship. That's not uncommon.

The video of the drag race with the 911 was killer, I thought. I was also surprised - I must never have heard him speak before - Musk is a terrible speaker.

    OMC STINGER 351 MISSING

First thing I would do with a Stringer, before you do anything else is try to determine if the drive is free and shifts properly. If so, and the transom doesn't need rebuilt - then the Stringer isn't horrible to work with. Be aware that parts are getting a little harder to find, and the Stringer...
