1972 Chrysler 55hp Burning Up Coils

yes... the condensors need to be absorbing enough voltage. but keep in mind if the ignition is on, it will constantly feed 12v to the coils. id think that would also damage the points. i changed mine to the gammatronix setup used in motorcycles with the same ignition. amazing. points will...

cant believe no answers. that was for the temp sender that went to the overheat alarm. you can use current part # or any sender that fits really just as long as it closes around 90c.

Suzuki DT V6 rebuild- tool needed?

Any Suzuki guys that have done rebuilds on the DT V6 2 strokes? The manual says you need special tool cylinder alignment plate where the engine holder goes (under oil seal plate) . it gets torqued BEFORE the cylinders do, presumably to align the cylinders. has anyone done it without it, using...

    What might be a concern

for me the value goes down as soon as some genius takes it out of the crate and starts it bone-dry with a 20+ year old impeller only to not use it and put it up for sale.

    96 john 150.

435294 comes as a complete hardware kit. wave washer is in it, so the pinion has tension on it without flying off. there is no "timing cover" only a pinion.

    2003 Johnson 90hp (J90GLSTA)

why not simply take the pump apart to examine the diaphram to see if its cracked and as suggested air leaks will cause it to pump faster? if you are already mixing 50:1 you can always just convert it to a non-OMS pump premix setup as well. both are equally simple. instead of buying a new OMS...

Johnson 1988 vro 225 hp fixing up a Frankenstein

i mean technically youd want it to cut 1st, then finish with 320+ grit . never had an issue just with permatex though. leaves a perfect frosty look and you can easily see the low spots where it didnt touch so you can get it all out with another attempt or 2

Johnson 1988 vro 225 hp fixing up a Frankenstein

the Permatex 80037 is by far the way to go. the clover stuff is WAY too fine in my opinion. grit # appears to be the same, but unless i had a finer version of the clover, its not effective unless you want to sit there for an hour moving the flywheel back and forth

Johnson 1988 vro 225 hp fixing up a Frankenstein

the factory manual walks you right through the proper procedure, in the correct order. the key when checking ignition and its not the stop circuit is to follow the manual steps IN ORDER. its tempting to skip steps, but doing that makes it more confusing. for these simple tests (whole ignition...

Johnson 1988 vro 225 hp fixing up a Frankenstein

right. because as Racer said, the key does squat but locate the timing magnets for proper alignment. on this V6 looper, its really just the inner timer base/trigger magnet thats critical.
