Who is allowing the staff to post fearful conditions ?
But my son needs a job. People get fearful and start doing panicky things needlessly.

One of the problems in my area, is how large an area is being covered by the forecast. Years back the forecast covered an area 50 miles by 50 miles but today that forecast covers an area over 200 miles by 200 mikes and in many cases even further. Totally different weather from one side to another ! I never trust one report, always look at three to figure out what the weather will be in my specific area. Also lived around my area for 70 of my 74 years, so I know what will happen with certain winds, and conditions on my part of the lake or area where I live. Years back our local TV station's weather guy was a fellow boater. He understood what effect certain conditions would have on the big lake in various areas. His reports were the most accurate ever, but he has long since retired, but I learned a lot from his detailed forecasts so know create many if my own forecasts.

Depends on what you call fearful conditions.
Half the people think everything is out to get them. The other half doesn’t know they are in danger

Like on a barrier island…..lol
Been going on for years. Wasn’t until recently the national media took notice and sensationalized it.

without getting too political, they have been doing the same thing here in the west with the temperatures... first they lower the threshold for a "dangerous heat warning" to just under 100*... and then we have a "Dangerous heat warning" every day for the whole summer.... its been well over 100* in the summer in AZ since I was a kid.... no kidding, its the Southwestern Desert..... it gets hot here... but now its being hyped constantly as if its a new occurance. The media is like a little kid who just discovered their first curse word.... so every other word is that one.....

Hate to say it, but its all to push forward an agenda based on what those who stand to profit from that agenda want pushed.... ill leave it at that, but getting the general population thinking its a new occurance only causes more issues with the weak minded and easily led.....

This is blatantly untrue. Yes, it gets hot in the SW, but if you don't think that the temperatures have become more extreme, the fires worse, storms worse, etc then you're either not paying attention or just being willfully ignorant. Thinking that there's always a political agenda with science (because yeah, that's why those nerds went into science) is absurd. And people die of the heat all the time.

Absolutely, mother earth has gone thru these cycles numerous times in the past 100K years. What makes today worse is that man has paved so much of the land with heat grabbing asphault, and running A/C units that pump even more heat into the atmosphere....look back 50 years ago, the avg big city was 1 or 2 degrees warmer than the suberbs, where today that average is 5 degrees warmer or more. Mankind has become weaker in handling extremes due to many inventions that make us more comfortable. Lived in AZ for a few years, have many pics of temps of 120 degrees in the shade of our trees, very normal for the area, but today they claim that 110 degrees would be a record according to the news last week.

A lot of it has to do with removal of natural tree cover and green space as far as things feeling worse. I was up at the lake a few years ago under the cover of the forest on the side of the mountain. Mercury reads 101 but felt great. Left the house at 98 F and that felt absolutely miserable. Relative humidity same and barometric pressure about the same too. More coverage and trees make a huge difference in my opinion....

It also annoys me that people are using real feel to report temperatures. It's a little misleading in my opinion. What does the mercury say? I don't care that my body feels like it's 120, if the red stuff says its only 105 then that's what I want to know. We keep the weather channel on in the control room at work and they were constantly reporting on the temps down south last week and every single time it had the little asterisk for heat index next to the temps which can be misleading in my opinion...
