Could be lacquer or acrylic, probably acid etch primer. It still needs sanded.

Aluminum transom has had heat distortion

I meant taking the whole rear panel out, to avoid having a seam that could open up from being torqued around by the motor. Sorry to hear about your dad. I understand getting burnt out on the project. It looks like the planned cut will be along the bottom edge of the transom. I think this will...

Aluminum transom has had heat distortion

If you're going to do that, why not just do the whole piece?

Got the cobalt painted today, no thanks to frustrations with the computer.

Aluminum transom has had heat distortion

Ok, I'm not much of a metal guy, I mostly do fiberglass, but I'll give my opinion on fixing that. I think it's stretched too much to just bang it back into shape. The only chance, and this is with no experience, would be a lot of work with a shrinking hammer (picture attached below). It looks...

It was just in the wash building.

Aluminum transom has had heat distortion

Wow, I hope you didn't pay for that. The welds are good, but he should have known not to just do it in one long weld. I don't know, that's a lot of warp to try to hammer out.

Because we had it, and it matched the color. Otherwise we had some more expensive eva foam pads, I think teak and grey. Not a good fit.

The plate is reinforcment for the trolling motor. It had enough torque that it cracked the surface. There is actually a reinforcement plate welded underneath from the factory, and it cracked on one of the welds.

I finished the Crestliner yesterday. Looks like I forgot to take a picture though. The only difference is a rubber diamond tread pad on the starboard side of the nose.

Planning to cut flush against the lock nut? That's whatI would do. Yeah, that stuff can be pretty hard to remove. We have this stuff. It works pretty well, but I think it's expensive. Don't remember how much, but it made me think "screw that!".

Inherited boat, how bad is this?

Nope. No big deal, I've seen enough mulched stringers to pretty much know what you're looking at. I would ballpark it somewhere closer to 5k and 6 months, assuming you have a full time job and other life responsibilities, plus the inevitable needing a break from it. Needing to lift the cap...

Huh, must be something on my end. Pictures in other threads are showing fine.

Inherited boat, how bad is this?

Your pictures didn't work for some reason. Iboats has a file size limit, so try reducing the size/quality of the pictures. From the descriptions though, you're looking at a total structural rebuild. The stringers are a total loss, transom will be too, and the floor will have to come out to do...

Hmmmm, must be doing something wrong. It's supposed to be in and out about 30 times for trimming and swearing at, and then have a big gap on one side...

I don't know what happened to this one, but this trailer doesn't have guide bars so can't be that. Cobalts look nice but they seem to be getting harder to work on. More stuff that was only meant to be accessed while the cap was lifted for assembly, so harder to reach or just have to cut a way...

Working on a cobalt while the paint is curing.
