    Noise when spinning prop by hand

    When I spin the prop in neutral counterclockwise by hand it makes a low pitched clicking noise. However when I spin it clockwise it sounds fine. Hoping its not the gearset/bearings going in the lower. Could it be the shift cable needs adjustment?

    Hi, In the process of having my motor mounts replaced since they were soft. Wondering how I should drill and install new lag bolts. Also should I use 3/8 or 1/2? Should I soak the new holes with epoxy or is 3m 4200 sufficient?

    Riser Gaskets

    Im installing new exhaust riser gaskets. I recall seeing a service bulletin to add a sealant along with the new gaskets. I'm wondering if this applies to my engine model/year.

    Can I use permatex aviation sealant on the upper/intermediate/lower unit mating surfaces? Is there a general purpose grease to use on the outdrive/pds bearings? Thanks

    454 with Yamaha Drive

    Hi all, lookin at a 96 Mariah Z220 Talari. Has a 454 in it with Yamaha Sterdrive. Just wondering if the engine is a GM/ford with available parts. I know the Drive is a nightmare for parts... What would be involved for a merc/volvo conversion down the road?

    Anyone try one of these instead of Exhaust bellow?

    Lookin for a permanent solution to exhaust bellows. Saw these on ebay: Merc came out with a "Tube" instead of bellows which apparently works great on larger V6 and V8's, and gives a little bit more sound which is nice to hear to the ears. Can't get em for volvo tho :mad: These ones are 3"...

    23" Pitch prop

    Hi there, Currently have a 14x21 prop on my boat (in signature). Its OK but want a lil more speed out of her. Just wondering how, if anyone, has tried a 23" prop on a Volvo AQ231. Im considering a Solas Amita 3 blade. Is OEM any better considering their triple the price?

    Exhaust tube instead of exhaust bellow

    I've read there are short rubber tubes that clamp onto the transom plate instead of the flexible rubber bellows. They seem to last longer than bellows. Anyone try one of these? Are there any benefits or downsides to it? My exhaust bellow is cracked a little bit anyways... So I'm looking at...

    Running in Neutral

    I heard you shouldn't run AQ style drives in neutral for very long. Is this true? If so how long can you. Are you able to warm the engine up at the dock?

    Shifting into gear AQ270

    Just curious how these drives "should" sound when shifting into gear. I'm new to VP's (and owning a boat). Mine makes a small thud. Are they suppose to be silky smooth or is this normal? I went up in prop pitch from a 19 to a 21 seemed to make the thud a lil worse. Could this be from more water...

    Sea water pump bearing removal

    Im trying to get the bearing carrier off of the harmonic balancer to replace the bearing in the sea water pump. Engine is an AQ231A. Problem is the 5/16 Allen wrench just spins the crankshaft instead of the bolts to break them free. I tried putting the boat in gear but the crank still rotates...

    Temp Gauge and Sensor

    Lost indication on my temp gauge right at the end of last season. Engine is a VP AQ231A. In the process of doing some maintenance this winter on her. How often do the temp sensors fail on the block? Can I use a GM sensor instead of a VP one? Thanks,
