    Back up motor?

    Back up motor runs really well. Pushes my boat nicely. Previous owner had fuel pump upside down. I think this was causing his issue. Quick fix. Glad to have her going strong.

    Double checked when I got home tonight 125/120 compression Spark jumps 3/8” gap without fail.

    I try to give as much information as possible and always forget something :) Spark Jumps a 3/8-7/16" gap. Nice blue spark. Carb kit was rebuilt with OEM kit. Compression I checked like 110/110 when I bought motor. Can check again for good measure.

    Motor is a rope start. Long shaft. Pumps water really well. I do have the low speed idle screw turned out quite a bit more than standard (3 turns if i remember correctly), but that was how it was needed to idle properly last time on the river.

    Fuel pump for 4.5 HP Johnson

    I rebuilt one of these for the first time recently. Pretty easy to do. Brandon's garage has a really nice video. Easy to follow. If you decide to buy a new one Sierra has a good fuel pump for around $50. I've had one on my 15 hp for a good year no without issue.
