    Recoil help

Great news! I was able to order an interlock assembly for $18 brand new and it works flawlessly. The recoil was moving around causing tons of slop in it. The teeth in the gear seem to be working just fine. I will report back if i have anymore issues.

How big of an issue is this?

1990 Johnson 15 hp tiller. I feel like this motor has lots of slop in it. I’m guessing bad motor mount. How big of a deal is this? I’ve never fixed one, I’m happy to learn and complete the job but didn’t know if this is something that must be fixed or not?

    New motor!

I don’t know what the actual definition of a kicker is 😂. I was thinking people used kickers from trolling but I’m still pretty new to boats. I take my son fishing on the river often and done want to get stuck down stream. It can be pretty shallow in spots where we’re at too.

    Any fixing this?

The broken part was from a 1976 Johnson. The all metal recoil I replaced it with was from Ebay and the same part number. No idea what motor it came off. Both same model number. The plastic recoil was about 1/8th inch longer.

    Back up motor?

The 6 hp long shaft that I already have sounds like it will be the idea back up motor to put in my boat then. Enough speed to get home and the right length for my transom. I’ll see how the weedless does for fun, but I’ll keep the 6 as my spare motor
