Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive.
Had no leaks last August changed out the water impeller and the seals and then when I remove my outdrive to replace my engine I saw drive oil leaking out of the water inlet pickup in the lower unit.
Yes I know I'm supposed to pressure test the system I've seen YouTube...
thanks Scott
that one shows its 24 V not 12 V.
also whats the difference between that one and the edlerock one? I expected the marine one to have a 3rd overflow port that connected tubing back to the carb? and that one also only has input and output not third port.
thanks, what do you recommend then? chevy 350 5.7 just like the OP has, need one that is 5-7 psi. when I search google, amazon, west marine... i either get listings of mechanical fuel pump replacements or in tank marine electric fuel pumps.
i am also converting o electric fuel pump. im installing a vortec 350 5.7 to replace my blown non vortec 5.7 in my 96 sea ray 210.
im using a 1490 marine carb.
i purchased this fuel pump, edlebrock 5-7psi fuel pump

i also purchased this fuel pump...
Understood, thanks for the advice and I'll carefully use a razor to remove the excess nibs. I'm sure leaving those nibs there will cause water turbulence I'm front of the transducer causing air bubbles and false readings.
I came here two days later to check on how everything is curing and so far everything is nice and snug and firm so that's a good sign. The top in the bilge it looks nice and watertight and underneath I'm a little disappointed with how the squeeze out resulted. There are some nibs of caulking...
i hope so, i'm tempted to yank it all back out clean it up and use 5200 instead. regardless of people saying never use 5200 on transducer. i dont plan on changing transducers often at all and it feels like i would be more comfortable with the solidity and firmness of 5200 over the gummy elastic...
I just installed the transducer in my boat following the directions boe Marine video so I'm curious on one part about tightening the nut.
On some forums people say to just hand tighten the nut and let the sealant fully cure and then go back and tighten it with the wrench because they say you...
1996 Sea Ray 210 and the underside of the hull on the bow has slight damage I guess from previous owner running the boat on shore.
It doesn't leak it's not cracked there's no water intrusion couple friends told me that they've seen much worse and that it's fairly common on older boats nothing...
It's been a long journey with my engine issues.
Come to find out my original engine blew on cylinders 4 and 6 and those were the exact two cylinders that the previous owner had crossed on the distributor cap I corrected that issue and gained a lot of power back but then those two cylinders...
Well I finally got around to removing my old transducer.... I bought a new one a bronze airmar b19 2 in in diameter I thought it would fit in my stock hole but my original transducer is only one inch diameter so I'm going to have to drill the whole larger.
I can see that there was definitely...
1996 Sea Ray 210 that has a lowrance 3500 system.
I asked about this over on the Sea Ray Club forums and they told me that I should get a P19/B619 Air Mar transducer that it would fit right inside the hole.
So I purchased it and I came to the boat today to remove my old transducer and when I...
So I have the outdrive off just kind of standing up on the skeg..
If I rotate the gear foot lever I can get it into neutral and I can rotate the drive shaft pretty easily and the propeller doesn't spin and if I put it in the gear and I rotated the propeller spins Is that a good indicator that...
Alpha 1 Gen 2 is what I meant sorry.
The water pump impeller kit that I got from Quicksilver had the water pump a large metal plate and a bunch of small seals It also had some extra seals I assumed for other applications but I just used or matched up all the new stuff with the old stuff that I...
I mean that's a good question but if I had everything in neutral and the engine wouldn't crank over just the starter clicking wouldn't it still start even if the drive was seized up?
And I can't quote all the other people below me unfortunately not in one post but I see the suggestions for...
So last summer aug 2020 I did an engine tune up and I also as a preventative maintenance replace the water pump And gaskets with Quicksilver kit. I had no issues with the water pump no issues with leaking gear oil prior to that.
After I got everything assembled the boat was running great for...
I finally sourced a decent mile vortec engine out of a 1997 z71 truck. had 133k miles. I need to pull the blown mercruiser 5.7 out of my sea ray in the up and coming weeks. i figure I will do things in small steps to make this a bit less daunting for me.
my buddy says when i am ready I can...
