    Engine is in, successful run?

All right engine is in. Removed blown non vortec 350 and replaced with fresh full rebuild 350 5.7 vortec. We use the timing lights at the thunderbolt 5 ignition and base timing mode and set it to 10° initially and my engine builder said he felt comfortable with 13° BTC so that's what we set it...

Please help I am stumped ! Engine surging high rpm

I'm not gonna repeat anything about is this or that marine rated, there's enough others that that do that. 1st get rid of that second fuel filter on the inlet of the Edelbrock micro pump. You don't need it you already have the fuel water separator.. extra fuel filter isn't helping. The...

Only 3psi on new electric fuel pump

Mercruiser 5.7 carb. I had to replace the mechanical fuel pump with my new vortec build as I'm no longer using a camshaft that supports the mechanical fuel pump. So initially I purchased an Edelbrock electric fuel pump rated at 4-8psi... People told me oh you can't use that because it's not...

    Mercruiser 5.7 anti-siphon valve

I was just going to look through the Mercury parts catalog based on my engine serial number and see if I can find it but I see now you're correct they didn't make the anti-siphon valve and I don't know which one to get and where to get it from I see all kinds online from 1/4 npt to 3/8 NPT...

    Mercruiser 5.7 anti-siphon valve

So I figured now is as good as time as any just to go ahead and replace it on my boat for good measure since everything is apart and easily accessible. Engine coupler woes

The splines don't start for the first 1-2 inches of the coupler. Like Bondo said it's all about space and if there's a transom in the way it's going to be hard. Here's a pic of my engine with the coupler on and a closed up showing there are no splines visible for first few inches.

used incorrect thru hull transducer for my deadrise

i should have measured manually but sadly i didn't. i have a 1996 sea ray 210 and found the original brochure that states the boat has a 15 degree deadrise. initially i found the specs for a later year by mistake and it stated i had a 22 degree deadrise. based on that i purchased a bronze 2...

    fuel pump frustration

i really like this setup and routing, i think you have boat extremely similar to mine. i have a sea ray 210 5.7 and you have a 220 with a 57 it looks like. what did you bolt that fuel pump to on the engine? is that a mounting boss/stud on the exhaust manifold? here is how I mounted mine for...

Fuel filter housing port fitting thread pitch ?

turns out it was 1/4 npt. i picked up 3/8 npt to 3/8 barbed hose fittings and they were too big. the fittings that came with my carter fuel pump fit perfectly into the fuel filter assembly an they were 1/4 npt to 3/8 hose and luckily i found some of those in a parts bin i had laying around...

Mercruiser 5.7 with fuel filter assembly for the mechanical fuel pump. I plan on reusing the fuel filter holder and fuel filter with my electric fuel pump upgrade but I need to change the fittings to 3/8 hose bar out of the fuel filter. I have a hard line coming from the carburetor down the...

ignition switch source for fuel pump relay kit?

So what exactly is the slave solenoid? My circuit breaker setup looks a little different than than his. Here is mine, is this the slave solenoid circled in red? So think I have the wiring down now. Oil pressure safety switch: "P" - to trigger wire on relay. "S" - to empty pole on starter...

ignition switch source for fuel pump relay kit?

That's why I was worried using a 12volt switch source from the coil because I didn't want to send unneeded current/amps through the oil pump safety switch. Not sure where the slave solenoid is
