    One of the studs on the sterndrive is angled too much when I rethreaded it, so it's not aligning properly with the transom mount.

    My neighbor heated up the stud with map gas and we were able to slightly tap it into place. It's all good. Thanks for the input.

    My neighbor (who is a boater and a good handyman) suggested to heat the stud with map gas while it's in the gimbal housing, put two nuts on top of the stud and hit the nuts with a hammer to get the angle. What do you think?

    I just did a dry fit with the gimbal housing to the transom mount outside of the boat. I had noticed that one of the gimbal studs that I had rethreaded in the gimbal housing is angled too much causing the two parts to not match up properly.     It didn't, maybe because of the colder temps here currently, last nite it went to the mid 50s. I just put a heater in the boat, Set it to 70°

    It tightened up pretty good when I did a dry run with the clamps. I'm doing the resin peanut butter fiberglass mix in a little while, I'll advise on how it went. I'll take some photos too.

    I only have to do a very small section, I think I'll use my orbital sander. Also can I use 3m 5200 and seal the small cracks....That stuff is amazing.

    I need to Fiberglass over old Fiberglass in the Bilge Area, because it's slightly cracked and I need to address that. Question- Can this be done, and If so, do I acetone/clean the area, do a first coat of resin and then put on the fiberglass?

    Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

    My dad served on this ship in the 1940s in WWII. The USS Fort Ticonderoga Aka: The Big T. He was a Flagman on this ship, and had seen his share of casualties from Japanese suicide bombers. I guess I got his Naval DNA in me. 😉
