    And I'm wondering if I can just rebuild that center part of the transom where it's decayed. So far It seems the wood to the left and right are ok. I'll know when I open it up more.

    No, I had cut out that part to assess where the water was coming in. That dark wood was there already when I removed all the rotted wood. I was just looking to do a patch job myself but realized I need to do it right the first time. That's why I'm confused that it may have two transoms.

    It looks like there can be two transoms, or an extra bumped out transom where the actual transom mount attaches, if that makes sense. I'm a rookie at this. I'm just wondering how it's designed.

    I'm almost done pulling out all the hardware I'm redoing the transom. Question concerning the transom itself. It looks like there's a sub transom where the transom plate goes. Are there two separate transoms. It seems like where the transom mount goes it bumps out. Shown in the photo below.

    I'm redoing my transom. I have the 2 new Anodes for my outside Gimbal mount, (the dome bullet style) but I need those Anode bolts, they seem way too overly priced, is there any other bolts I can use. Has anyone here used anything different other than the Merc Anode bolts. I can't stomach...

    Transom Mount Bolt Size Merc Alpha 1 Gen 1 or are they studs.

    I have to remove my transom mount on my 1985 Century 20' Boat. I'm redoing my whole transom. It's a Merc 1 gen 1. Does anyone know the bolt size or is it just a stud, I snapped one off hitting a sandbar last year, so I'll need to replace the transom mount and the bolts studs etc.

    Doing a Full Removal 1986 Mercruiser 3.0L 140 hp Engine Question

    The engine came out fine with no platform etc needed. Removed the sterndrive first, then jacked the front bow end of the boat up as high as we could with a service jack and some wood planks. It came out rather easily pulled from the stern area. I used a basic 2 ton engine hoist. Thanks everyone.
