    Most have trim electrical restrictors prohibiting cranking if OD is up past a certain point. Make sure those are fixed and working 100%.

    Flooded in salt water? How long? You may need drive too. If shifter keyway is straight, it should pull off. Spline may have rusted inside coupler???

    Acetylene torch would allow you to concentrate heat more than a propane bottle kit. Use a brazing torch tip. Have a fire extinguisher nearby. Good idea about tube/brake wrenches...

    U may have your fuel pick up tube screen clogged. I removed mine after I had a similar problem. I let regular water separator keep fuel clean.
