    MC have very strong motor mounts that do not allow vibrations to be seen unless something is very bad. I suggest pulling plug wire and listening to drop in RPMs. Just an idea...

    while friend at helm and in the dark with muffs on or at dock, start wiggling wires. I suspect coil wire grounding out.

    Real pain. Consider purchasing a kit that replaced oil drain plug that has long hose and brass end cap. Mine works great.

    Take sensors out of the loop one at a time. I disconnected my reservoir due to crud. I cleaned out crude and reconnected.

    I'd bet that you have some green corrosion somewhere. Jump starter directly and see what happens.

    There is a seal behind gimbal bearing that people seldom replace. If drive is off, I'd pull bearing and replace seal. You probably need to realign shaft, anyway.

    98??? Check for rot!!!!!!!!! If you find rot in transom or stringer and you want the boat, expect a lot of work removing all metal and repairing. Trust me!!!!

    Keep looking for SMALL cap/hole. Buy a plastic mustard/catchup squeeze bottle. The long snout helped me get oil into reservoir hole. You may have to fill and refill if pump was very dry, since oil has to also go to rams. Have rags under reservoir, since it will get messy.

    I don't know why builders put these small screens into pickup tubes. They are headaches. I suspect fuel pumps suction collapsed filter.

    Intermittent fuel supply issues

    Most marine manual fuel pumps leak back into carburetor, when defective. Is your FP marine or automotive. It may be leaking too much into carb.??? Most FTs have a screen inside of their pickup tubes. Remove screens and pitch them into the trash. Mine were partially clogged.

    Go buy an inexpensive tack, attach at motor, and test to be sure that your tack is bad or good. The wires may have a break somewhere from old tack to helm. A new tack installed will help diagnose where problem is. You will need the tack again. Trust me!!!
