Hi all, just sold my 14' Sea Nymph with 1996 Evinrude 25 hp---i am in the market for something quite a bit bigger where older isnt an issue. Found a nice 1986 cc Bayliner Trophy with a Chrysler 125 Force (running well). Any takes on this particular engine or any common probs?
Just replaced the whole water pump, thermostat and gasket, and new spark plugs... motor still doing the same. Wont let me throttle more than 1/4 to 1/2. In neutral it is fine, but once in gear it sputters and pops and acts like its not getting fuel. What could be the cause of this?
Was that little plastic piece supposed to go somewhere in the water pump I just installed? If so what is it and where does it go? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
1996 Evinrude 25 hp Model E25REDA
Already changed water pump and dropped the lower unit twice :p blew air through the bottom hose and felt air at the top... what else could it be? Thermostat was bad, took it out for now just to see if I could get it pushing water. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for some help on a 1996 25 hp Evinrude thats not pumping water (model 1448EO). From what I have read many say its the water pump... locating the water pump is where my problem is. I own my own mechanic business so I am mechanically sound, but working on a diesel engine is a lot different...
