    Power head replacment

    Trying to get a replacement for a Johnson motor Mod. 5JRCSS. The cover says 4.5 But do I look for a motor for a 4.5 or 5 HP? Or will something in the same range work. I am really looking for remanufactured and not used, any help where to look would be great.

    Electric brake help

    2005 Silverado using Teconsa brake controller I have power to unit, black wire hot, when Irun ground to blue wire I get green light on controller, when I ground red no light on controller or test , when I ground white wire no power to test no green light. I do have power to brake light on trailer.

    Better battery life.

    What is the best way to charge and keep a new deep cycle battery charged? I use battery for trolling motor and lights,I have a older 6- 12 6 amp&2amp charger is this ok to use, or is their a better charger?What about the on board chargers?

    Compresson relief on outboards?

    I was talking with someone that told me that all small engines have a compression relief, and that a compression tester on out boards is useless, true, or not true? This person has a lot of experience and schooling on small engines and chain saw motors.

    Will be needing new battery for terova 55lb thrust trolling motor,and fish graph will use boat lights at times,will just about any deep cycle battery do? ?ow do I tell good from bad?

    Floor repair sugestions

    So I am replacing floor on my fishing boat a 14 foot alum. flat bottom,it had carpet I don't really want to go back to that, what other materials are out their? I was thinking the marine vinyl from Cabal's but a couple people told me it is slippery, they suggested the rhino coat surface or deck...

    ring replacment 4.5

    I have a 4.5 Mod.J5RCSS that will run if I turn the fly wheel fast with a drill but not with pull rope, If I replaced rings is it as simple as removing the head and replacing rings or should I have a shop do this? I am thinking I will need to remove connecting rod and pull piston up to get to rings?

    Lower unit leek,

    Is their a pressure test to determine where a lower unit is leaking? My motor had water in it when I drained for the winter,Is their a affordable tool a guy can buy to check?

    spark plug wire replacment

    After I tried the suggestion on starting I believe now I have a bad plug wire, any way I cannot see how the armature plate can be removed for wire replacement,or do I not need to remove it?

    10 hp hard starting

    Well my this motor has had new points and wires condensers and plugs ,It starts and runs like a new one when warm, I mean one pull and it's running .But if it,s cold, I all most regret taking up fishing as a hobby it starts so hard. I pull the choke and it just don't seem to get fuel to get that...

    Plug wire replacment

    I found a bad spark plug wire on a 1962 10 hp I am wondering how to remove the plate that holds the coils and points, I see screws in between power head and plate but how to get to them. the wires are tucked under the plate.
